Hey... The Varsity isn't so bad for what it is... gut grenades, chilidogs and whatnot.

(But the next morning -- watch out!)

I've been peak bagging. Was just at 14,246' yesterday. Pretty tired today. Working on the photos and will post later.

So where is the Varsity?

gojo and I went to some dive kinda place near, ummm, the Midtown (or downtown?) music festival... something that sounded Arabic or Spanish, but wasn't. Maybe Mouthafa? LOL I dunno. Was an old Democrat bar, complete with Hubert H. Humphrey plates above the bar. It was great. gojo was almost killed by staff! LOL

any idea of the bar I'm talking about? It was a great dive

It's been a while. I think The Varsity is close to the interstate near the Ga Tech campus.

That 'old Democrat bar' sounds like a blast. My entire family (sans Yours Truly) could be pitched out into the street, LOL

Speaking of switchbacks, hard trails, and peakbagging (a few posts earlier), my old climbing partner plotted into his map program the mostly trailless approach to Perfect Pass in the Pickett Range of the North Cascades of WA, and found it to be "14.5 miles and climbs 9,100 freaking feet". No wonder we were dead when we got there!!

'peak bragging' is closely akin to 'peak bagging'.... <VBG>

I was just comparing switchback and trail difficulties, East v West. Don't get all sensitive about not having done anything similar, boys.

Shouldn't use east coasters and west coasters join together and make fun of the mid west?

They have Mt. Sunflower in the midwest. Didn't I hear a hiker was killed there the other day. Deadly mountain Sunflower is.

Martin Luther King said he had been to the mountain top. I wonder which one he was referring to?

Dang, I'm reading this post and see my poor Midwest is getting slammed. No accents? That's because we speak correctly! No peaks? Yea, well, um.... Oh, yea, that's why I'm moving the first chance I get. Sorry, carry on.

You'd have nothing to eat without midwest corn & beans, dang it! :)

Tim's Hill? Cool, I have a hill named after me. I'll have to check and see if I'm receiving royalties for the use of my name. :)

Hell, us folks in the south not only have the best accents, we have our whole own laguage!

And Appalachian is just a sub dialect of Southern, btw.

(and I'm fluent in both)
