There is the Santa Monica Mtns for Late fall/winter/early spring.
Back country of Santa Barbara, Fillmore - Sespe Wilderness. Lots of places. They do get warm so I usually head higher up.

“A great place to go for day hikes is the San Gabriel mountains, out of Wrightwood. You can hike up to the top of Mt. Baden Powell, Throop, and all the other peaks along that ridge.”
