Attn: Picure nerds!
So here's the deal. I've got a few grand BURNING a hole in my pocket. (i'm single, no kids, and my truck is paid for; that's why I have a little mad money) And I'm ready ti make the leap into digital photography. A huge contributing factor is that my 35mm SLR just died an horrible death serving the cause (it involved being chased by a crazed mob of mosquitos). Do not mourn my camera, I bought it at a pawn shop and it lived a fufulling second life in my care.

I'm writing the kind folks of thebackpacker.com because i live 120 miles from a camera shop and I'm going to do this mail order from b&h photo or ritz camera.

I'm definately looking at the canon products becasue I've had good expiriences with them in the past AND I also already have 3 lenses, actually I may have 2 (the 75-300 mm probably will die of its wounds).

My question is this, what adventages does the EOS 10D have over the rebel? Is the $450 difference worth it? Is the 6.3 megapixels going to be outdated so soon that I should just buy the cheaper camera? Also, what is the deal with the mm rating doing different things on a digital? Are my zooms going to be more zoomy? Do I need to pick up a 30mm lens to do what my beloved 50mm does now?
