Baware the do not email scamView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 6 of 6 messages posted.
“Be wary of the “National Do Not E-mail Registry” scam The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has recently issued a warning to Internet users: Don’t give your e-mail address or any personal information to a website claiming to be the "National Do Not E-mail Registry". This bogus site promises to cut down on spam and mimics the language, look and navigation of the popular "National Do Not Call Registry" website. However, no legitimate e-mail registry exists at this time. The FTC is concerned that this site was created to trick consumers into disclosing personal information for identity theft purposes, or at the very least, to collect valid e-mail addresses to sell to spammers. If you receive an e-mail claiming to represent the "Do Not E-Mail Registry" or even the FTC itself, don’t respond directly. Instead, please report it to the FTC at www.ftc.gov or call 877-FTC-HELP (382-4357).” 1:19:06 AM 6/29/04 “The things people do to advertise and get kicks in destroying people's computers. It amazes me.” 1:33:51 AM 6/29/04 “When the ad came out on the radio, I fell for it and signed up right away. What a mistake..... Didn't do my wife's e-mail address though.” 5:13:18 AM 6/29/04 “Not all spam is bad. I am meeting with a member of the Nigerian Royal family next week to secure my family's financial future.” 7:29:43 AM 6/29/04 “Which is worse, the SPAM you get in your email or the SPAM that you eat?” 7:34:35 AM 6/29/04 “Spam's (the TTer) Spam burritos are pretty darn good. Scrambled eggs, fried strips of Spam, grated cheese and some salsa wrapped up in a flour tortilla make for a great breakfast while backpacking.” 7:49:39 AM 6/29/04
