Florida Keys - Nah NahView Messages11:17:57 AM 7/13/04 “NE Florida is considered by some to be part of SE Georgia. There's nothing but sweet tea around here! Growth here is explosive as well. I believe some guy is trying to start a conch farm down towards the Keys. He was stymied by the feds for some environmental reason. I love conch fritters, There's a restaurant in St. Augustine that makes really good ones.” 11:20:18 AM 7/13/04 “Florida Sucks!!! Who needs oranges and ocean...and palm trees...and warm sun...anyway?” 11:29:50 AM 7/13/04 “Treebait, We lived for a couple years in Jax and Orange Park when I was a kid, too. Painfull to go back and see what's happened to the old 'hood. You're right though, even 30-odd years ago the Jax area was refered to as South Georgia. Seems as if the only place left in Florida worth a crap is the undeveloped expanses along the Big Bend... That's bound to be destroyed soon, too. It's inevitable. (For fear of my life.)” 11:38:50 AM 7/13/04 old 'hoods and such “Last time I was in the old 'hoods was in the mid '80's. I was barely able to even recognize our old house for all the changes. That was in Orange Park, before the mall was built. Left FL in '98. Only went back once to bury my dad ('99.) I don't picture me there again anytime soon. My current plan is to live in a place where the population has been going down. They're all leaving and moving to FL!! If this trend keeps up, soon enough I'll have the whole of CNY to myself. Nearby K.T.'s marina had the best boat rental deals in South Florida, but alas they've gone the way of Florida land manatee. From their pier, Tennessee Reef is only 1/2 hour out. Fishing there is great. Rented a canoe from the park once. Caught a five foot blue shark while fishing the bight. It was a Nantucket-South sleighride fer sure. Goooooood times!” 12:04:52 PM 7/13/04
