Home Depot gals take it off for Playboy

Playboy.com's 'Women of Home Depot' pictorial features six employees minus their orange aprons.

The pictorial, which is exclusively on Playboy.com, features six models including a sales associate, a supervisor and a cashier. Playboy.com paid the models for the feature but would not disclose the amount.

Who's Thomas looking at next?

"Maybe 'Women of CNN' will be next," he joked.

"I'm sure there are a lot of nervous brands out there," he added. "We have between six to eight names that we're considering.

One idea is a 'Women of fast-food' spread.

Hmmmmm, I might hold off on that one....

Anti-porn group slams Home Depot
Group upset over Playboy.com nude pictorial featuring "The Women of Home Depot."

Outraged by a recent Playboy.com nude pictorial featuring "The Women of Home Depot," a group of about 20 local anti-pornography activists, clergy, conservatives and citizens gathered in the parking lot of the Farmingdale Home Depot yesterday morning to condemn what they called an endorsement of pornography on the part of the home improvement superstore chain.

"We are asking Home Depot to get out of the porn business," said Robert Lloyd, executive director of Long Island Citizens for Community Values, a decade-old Huntington nonprofit whose slogan is: "Working to reduce the harmful effects of pornography."

Invoking family values and quoting statistics on the role pornography plays in sex crimes, Lloyd and others called on Home Depot to restore its image by disavowing the Playboy.com pictorial. They threatened to boycott the Atlanta-based company, which has 20 stores in Nassau and Suffolk, unless it issued an apology and instituted changes to its employee policy to ensure it would not happen again.

Representatives from Home Depot and Playboy.com said Home Depot had nothing to do with the pictorial, a Web-only feature posted in July on Playboy.com's pay section, which costs members $19.95 a month.

"We didn't participate in this, we didn't endorse it, we didn't have anything to do with Playboy's decision to do this," Home Depot spokesman Don Harrison said, adding that this was the third time the company issued similar statements this year. "We couldn't stop it. ... Obviously they [the employees] didn't do it on store time."

BOULDER — Home Depot is defending a lawsuit filed by a man who claims the chain's Louisville store ignored his cries for help after he fell victim to a prank and was glued to a toilet seat.

Bob Dougherty, 57, of Nederland, said he became stuck to a bathroom toilet seat last year after somebody smeared glue on it.

They left me there, going through all that stress," Dougherty told The (Boulder) Daily Camera. "They just let me rot."

His lawsuit, filed Friday, said Dougherty was recovering from heart bypass surgery at the time and thought he was having a heart attack. A store employee who heard him calling for help informed the head clerk via radio, but the head clerk "believed it to be a hoax," the lawsuit said.

Home Depot spokeswoman Kathryn Gallagher said she could not comment on pending litigation.

The lawsuit said after about 15 minutes, store officials called for an ambulance. Paramedics unbolted the toilet seat, and while wheeling a "frightened and humiliated" Dougherty out of the store, he passed out.

The lawsuit said the toilet seat separated from his skin, leaving abrasions.

"This is not Home Depot's fault," he said. "But I am blaming them for letting me hang in there and just ignoring me."

They really should have believed that someone would sit down on a public restroom toilet seat with something smeared all over it.

What's the guy doing actually SITTING DOWN on an unprotected public toilet seat? Sheesh, I spend 20 minutes just visually inspecting the seat before I even put the protector sheet on it. You can get AIDS and crabs and bird flu from public toilet seats.

you will prolly get sicker from handling merchandise than a toilet seat. The toilet seat is cleaned and sterilzed daily at least, the merchandise is never sterilized.

True, but from what I read in a recent article (cvant recall where) 2/3 of folks dont wash after using the bathroom so all those tasty germs are all over everything, throw in some sneezing and general poor hygiene and you are set. I really dont care, I figure I have an immune system that needs constant use to keep it honed to a razors edge LOL>

'Sticky Bob'
The Boulder County man who claims his rear end was glued to a toilet seat in a Louisville Home Depot in 2003 denied Tuesday that he made a similar report last year.
On Monday, a former Nederland official told the Rocky Mountain News that Bob Dougherty complained in the summer of 2004 that he had become glued to the toilet seat in the town's visitors center.

Wow! What are the odds it would happen again to the same guy? Whoooo!

Oh, I liked this part too:

Dougherty and Cohen hope a Boulder County jury will help put an end to the case and award Dougherty money for his pain and suffering.
