If it's cold and dreary... I may have to pass... I've been trying to do a lot of my walking on my treadmill and elliptical rider at home, but this weather is so nice that it really makes me want to get outside and get even more motivated! :-)” 3:31:11 PM 3/29/05 “What a gorgeous day!!!! A few more snow flakes and its all over.” 5:31:56 PM 3/29/05 “Hey Adventure Girl, did you get my email?” 5:33:55 PM 3/29/05 “birch, birch, birch...whattid I tell ya about that "S" word!” 5:34:17 PM 3/29/05 “I'm ready for the Michigan WATER trails!” 5:36:12 PM 3/29/05 “Pink, Meet at the trailhead at 10am. Everything else is the same as your email.” 7:57:38 AM 3/30/05 “Decisions...decisions... MSU made it to the Final 4 in basketball... Dare I go hiking and not watch?... Hmmm?! I heard it was supposed to Rain on Friday night. I hope not, it would not be fun camping on soggy ground.... Since I've never camped without Thinkbubelz, this will be quite a challenge for me! :-)” 1:16:06 PM 3/30/05 “Upluver, I dont want more snow, I just dont wanna get my hopes up yet.” 5:43:03 PM 3/30/05 “Bummer... Something has come up... Can't go now... :-( Well, hopefully, I can try again later this spring!” 10:45:12 AM 4/01/05 “So, how was the hike? I'm kind of glad I wasn't able to go. The cold and wind would have been a little too much for me!” 11:03:33 AM 4/03/05 “The wind and cold would've been too much for Wolfeye's doggie too, so she stayed home (couldn't find a dog sitter) and so did I. I just don't wanna go solo so close to civilization. Birch, Reformed Lurker and I went out to Silver Lake for a quick and early dayhike, Saturday morning. We met at the trailhead at 8am and hiked about 7 miles. We saw some Sandhill cranes up close (about twenty feet away), feeding in some shallow water. It was a good hike, great to stretch those muscles with some good hills! After we left RL, Birch and I drove into Dexter and stopped at the bakery for a chocolate chip scone and a cup of coffee. The wind and temps and rain weren't a problem in the woods but once we got out it was cold! We then headed down Huron River Drive to check out the rapids at Delhi Park (for kayaking later). These are the only class III rapids in Michigan and they're only around in spring. They look fun (and scarey) and we hope to get a chance to run them this spring. Birch is going to get ahold of the local livery and see what fees to pick up a kayak and how far we can go, etc. Anyone else game?” 12:27:33 PM 4/03/05 “I'd be interested, Sass. Keep me posted. With multiple vehicles, perhaps using a livery could be avoided?” 12:58:00 PM 4/03/05 “Probably. We can haul four boats on our car at once. I was thinking it'd be alot of back and forth driving but maybe I'm thinking too much. The time and gas would amount to much less than the cost of a livery pick-up.” 6:51:12 PM 4/03/05 “It turned out really nice over by me, it was not suposed to be, but the sun was out al day and it was really warm, so I ended up hiking some trails close by. I have only kayaked in small lakes, an a river once, I dont think Im ready for rapids yet. But It sounds really fun!” 3:50:56 PM 4/04/05 “Hi Sass! I almost asked if you would have been interested in dayhiking and bringing Birch and Thinkbubelz along! As it was, we stayed home most of the day-- I couldn't take the wind and cold... It was a good thing I didn't go camping. We hung out with a couple of friends of our Saturday night, and it turned out that one of our friends' mom had a brain aneurysm and went into the hospital on Sunday. I am thankful that we had time to spend with our friend on Saturday Night... Her mom had brain surgery today-- luckily, it looks like they got the aneurysms in time and we hope that she will be okay....” 9:14:01 PM 4/04/05 “Sass-- let me know when you decide to kayak. My friend has a kayak-- maybe she'd like to tag along! ;-)” 11:00:31 AM 4/05/05 “Pink, I don't want to come off as unfriendly or mean but I think I'd rather stick with folks I've paddled with before, who I know can handle some rapids or at least know what to do if they tump. Class III is pretty exciting for around here and looking at them they could be pretty tricky. Maybe next time we go out on a lake or a calmer river okay?” 12:43:06 PM 4/05/05 “Hey, no prob--no offense taken! :-) Thinkbubelz & I probably wouldn't mind doing a "lazy river" canoe trip with you and birch sometime in the summer! :-) I'm not sure what my friend has kayaked before, but I know she's gone on some of the kayaking trips with her sister... :-) You are probably right, though--she may be better suited for slower waters. :-)” 2:34:45 PM 4/05/05 “Stay tuned Pink. I have a trip in the works for Quetico Provincial Park next year. Perfect place to try out you sea legs.” 2:36:14 PM 4/05/05 Wounded Knee “Can I join you? I've never had a bad time in Quetico even when it was raining bears on the last day out.” 3:02:50 PM 4/05/05 “Also interested, keep us posted ChicagoMark!” 3:08:40 PM 4/05/05 “Yes, I will keep you guys posted. Trip will most likely be at end of July\beginning of August.” 4:40:13 PM 4/05/05 “Where is Quetico? Is that in Canada (I'm guessing by the name?) dhutch-- how were your horses? Did you get your car fixed?” 4:40:56 PM 4/05/05 “Yes Pink, due north of International Falls MN. Basically it is the Boundry Waters area I am talking about, except we would be going up into Canada and entering the park from the northern border. It will be a most awesome experience.” 4:43:28 PM 4/05/05 “You won't be able to wear those shoes you posted about on the other thread Pink. Sorry.” 4:44:16 PM 4/05/05 “WK... LOL...I'm not wearing those in the back country! Those are strictly wedding and fine dining shoes... :-)” 4:53:33 PM 4/05/05 “I know, just being a dork” 4:58:09 PM 4/05/05 “Now, you wearing those shoes... that would be a sight to see... LOL” 3:36:17 PM 4/06/05 “Pink, Horse is fine. Shedding uncontrollably! The big green explorer now has a new engine. I'm back on the road. Man, I need to think about getting my daughter a newer car. What a heap! I had to drive it all last wk. Thanks for asking.” 12:57:42 PM 4/07/05 “Dhutch, if you get A a newer car you can almost guarentee it'll be wrecked within two weeks of purchase. That's the way of the teenager. ;)” 6:49:23 AM 4/08/05 “Once again, wisdom from Sass. You are absolutely right! :-)” 6:59:39 AM 4/08/05 “You're right, Sass! I learned to drive a 70's model Grand Tourino. My mother referred to it as the Ruffels potato chip because it had so many dents from all of us kids learning to drive. I took it on two wheels twice... no wait, that was my Dad's Elderado. Anyone remember that song with the lyrics, Terminous Elderado, sung my Michigan's very own, wild man. I think Alzheimer's has set in! I can't think of his name for the life of me!” 7:34:14 AM 4/08/05 “Ted Nugent-Scream Dream (Epic) 1980 1. "Wango Tango" (4:50) 2. "Scream Dream" (3:19) 3. "Hard as Nails" (3:39) 4. "I Gotta Move" (2:18) 5. "Violent Love" (2:54) 6. "Flesh and Blood" (4:45) 7. "Spit It Out" (3:53) 8. "Come and Get It" (3:18) 9. "Terminus Eldorado" (4:14) 10. "Don't Cry (I'll Be Back Before You Know It)" (2:19) This is one spectacular Heavy Metal opus. I mean Ted cranks it up to 11 on this one. The lyrics on some of the songs are as freaking hilarious as the front cover. TED RULES! "Wango Tango" is of course a FM rock radio staple. "Scream Dream," well, it screams, "Hard as Nails" is, "I Gotta Move" makes you wanna move, "Terminous Eldorodo" is a tale of teenage rebellion put to a screaming guitar riff...” 10:50:58 AM 4/08/05 “Can you guys believe this 80 degree weather we are having? I guess all good things come to an end, though. It is supposed to rain and get cold again. :-(” 2:23:14 PM 4/19/05 “We need the rain! Forest fires going on here, right?” 3:03:05 PM 4/19/05 “Hi Dhutch-- I don't remember hearing about them, but then again, I haven't really been watching the news! Am loving the warm weather though! I've been walking and running a lot for my 3-Day walk Training! ;-) I'll be free after the beginning of June! Let me know if you guys plan to do any camping!” 3:14:02 PM 4/19/05 “1500 acres burned in Roscommon Cty 84 wild fires so far this year (so I hear).” 6:17:57 PM 4/19/05 “Its raining by me today, So it should be ok as far as fires. What I heard was lots of brush fires were going on, which is different than forest fires. But no one really cares.” 10:56:05 AM 4/20/05 “It was raining pretty ferociously early this morning! Hopefully, it will be clear in the evenings, though (when I do my walking!)” 11:45:11 AM 4/20/05 “A couple of years ago, we had a big wildfire in Monroe County at the Pointe Aux Peaux State Wildlife Area. The place is only about 200 acres, but almost all of it went up. There were all sorts of beach houses nearby and they were all in trouble. I was bummed because one of my secret shoreline spots got changed bigtime. I never thought about wildfires in southern Michigan until then, but it happens. A few years ago, I saw some bigtime wildfires in S. Dakota. It was interesting to watch the helicopters and cargo planes dropping load after load of water and chemicals on the thing.” 2:01:57 PM 4/20/05 “It looks like it is starting to by me Pink, so if it hasnt cleared yet it should soon, Im pretty sure the storm came from the west and was headed East.” 2:41:56 PM 4/20/05 “You guys see the weather report for the next few days? Enjoy today!!! Snow starts Friday. Tarabull should be happy. ;)” 6:52:36 AM 4/21/05 “Well, I have meters inside of sanitary sewers, and I need some big rain events to see how much stormwater gets into the sanitary sewers. I mean, um, yeah, we need the rain to green up the grass and stuff. :)” 7:35:25 AM 4/21/05 “All right Im ok with rain or even snow, but right now it cant decide what it wants to do and its doing both. And thats just crazy. Bring back my sunshine!” 1:25:08 PM 4/22/05 “:) We had snow today. Crazy weather. Right now there are clouds in the sky and the near full moon is reflecting brightly between them. I love the night sky.” 9:27:56 PM 4/22/05 “Just checked the NWS online, less then 1" today, 3-5" tonite, 1-3" sunday. How exciting...:( It was 82 a week on tuesday.” 6:30:48 AM 4/23/05 “I don't know about you, but I'm hoping we get hammered with snow. I like freakish weather.” 7:25:55 AM 4/23/05 “You freak! ;)” 7:28:08 AM 4/23/05 “When I was at U of M, I used to run to the 7th floor of the grad library during tornado warnings so that I could see any twisters in the distance. I was a bright kid.” 7:34:58 AM 4/23/05 “lol! Did you ever get to see any?” 7:35:33 AM 4/23/05 Jump to Page << prev
