I currently have no Michigan mailing address. I've spent as much time in Seattle in the past month as Michigan. I am currently in Wisconsin. But I like to attend Michigan barbecues because of the high quality of the grilled meats.

“My next Mich trip is going to be Nordhouse Dunes again in August and then I HAVE to finally go to Manisty River. I've been meaning to do that one for a few years now.”

“Buddhamtnsmasher, I grew up in the Kazoo metro area (meaning lived in Kazoo and Portage during elementary and junior high). Folks and brother still in Portage/Schoolcraft. I get there a couple/few times a year.”

“I am taking my 2 sons on the N. Manitou island weekend trip in August, then we're heading the UP to explore perhaps Pictured Rocks, maybe the Porkies. Haven't decided on the itinerary yet.

I'd love to join a Manistee trip again. I'd like to do that loop with people this time.”

“I wanna go to the Sylvania Wilderness area some day. It's over by the Porkies so it'd be cool to split a trip between hiking the Porkies and then some yakkin in the Sylvanias.”

“We'll have to schedule a separate Manistee trip and make sure not to go with Nigal. That anti-social ba$tard wants to hike alone. ;-)”

“LOL! What a bassturd I am! I'm not a strict solo hiker but I do like to pick and choose whom I hike with. The puppy-pile trips just aren't fun any more.”

“I Soooo agree. Plus I'm a big fan of the solo hike on a regular basis. Helps me keep my head as clear as mud. Course I take my trusty dawg. I can always trust him to cause grief and comfort of some sort on any trip.

Cause grief? Naw come on! I’ve heard of the now famous saying of “Uh oh!“. LOL! HoneyDog does the same thing sometimes. It’s just a matter of training I guess. I’m trying to teach her “left” and “right” on the trail now for turns. She’s slowly catching on.”
