Waterproof boots?

I can't say that I've ever had trouble with Goretex boots. Several decades ago, I always had trouble with waterproof leather boots. It took me decades to get away from clod-hoppers. For the past 20 years, I've beeb using much lighter weight synthetic/leather goretex boots without difficulty.

Of course I don't walk in puddles or streams. I'll take my boots off & cross water in sandals or sneakers. (don't like barefoot but will do it in a pinch) My boots are my most valuable possesion on a trip. I treat them with respect but I'll never bring them in a sleeping bag with me. Tent yes.
