ky trails “Hi, I am looking for some good loops in kentucky or tennessee, either 2 day or weeklong, (5 to 6 day). Scenery is a plus, and dont worry about difficulty, that makes it all the more fun. Thanks.” 9:25:04 PM 7/09/04 “1. Go to box, "Sections," on the upper right side of this page. Click on "Trails." 2. On the map locate Kentucky and click on it. 3. Select one of the (14) trails and click on it. 4. Review all the literature there. Click on all the links and follow them as far as you can. 5. Go to a search engine like www.google.com. Search for the trail. Go to any and all of the promising sites and review the information. Follow links as far as possible. 6. Repeat 3-6 for alternative trails. 7. Repeat 2-6 for Tennessee. 8. Select a trail and go for it. Very few trail are loops, so prepare yourself mentally and financially for using a shuttle service. Alternatively, return to 1 and click on "trips." Find a trip that interests you and sign up for it. Read the information supplied. Do a search on something like "google" and learn what you can about the trail and the forthcoming trip. Then post any questions. People will be glad to help. BTW, you have placed a large request. You have a varying number of days for your hike And you have picked two states with many trails. Almost every State Park has hiking and packpacking trails. So in addition to the above searching, you could research all the state parks. Then there are the National Parks, state and national forests, refuges, etc. Even counties have parks and trails. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, about half of which is in TN, has around 850 miles of trails. So, good luck.” 10:27:58 PM 7/09/04
