Do you ever fight with yourself?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 16 of 16 messages posted.
“Life is now so simple for me. I no longer have to worry about getting old. But I still end up with conflicts that require decisions. Except for a donut run(on my bicycle), a few games of pool at noon and mailing birthday checks to a daughter and a granddaughter, I've been near the computer all day. Playing in the background is WQXR, The New Your Times Web Radio, Classical Music: All Day, All Night. They just finished playing Franz von Suppé's Jolly Robbers Overture. I looked up Franz Von Suppé(1819 - 1895) with Google and found him interesting. Most notable was: "Today, Suppé is remembered for a handful of overtures, including that for Morning, Noon and Night in Vienna. Their melodic invention, colorful orchestration and irrepressible energy and charm have assured Suppé's overtures an occasional appearance in concert programs, even if sadly, his other works have lapsed into obscurity". Since I really enjoyed his music, I clicked on "Buy CD." The CD's playing length is 1 hr. 0 min. But the selection aired was only about 14 minutes. I know I'm a cinch to like the longer version. It will cost about $12 plus shipping. But there were 8 more CD's of his music. If I buy one, I know that I will want them all. So the cost will go over $100. I'm still putting a daughter through college and can't afford to spend this kind of money. I would probably only listen once or twice and then put the CDs away. Besides, I already have more than 30 GB's of music on my computer. So I gave a couple of sniffs and put my credit card away. How 'bout you? Do you often find youself fighting decisions like this one? 6:03:48 PM 7/16/04 “ ![]() KILLER WABBIT OR.... ![]() Series I Fixed Head Coupe (1964) 6:32:53 PM 7/16/04 “I already got the killer rabbit, Tilt. It's the only bunny Laurel's not afraid of. Nice sign of things to come, eh? I'm the same way with music. Buy one, and you know there's more coming. Kinda like bunnies in fact.” 7:47:52 PM 7/16/04 “Or gear for that matter. :)” 7:48:09 PM 7/16/04 “I think the Killer Wabbit will definitely be more cost effective. Hmmm... probably better get two, though: one for the weasel to wrassle with and the other to keep 'mint in box'.” 7:55:45 PM 7/16/04 “This thread reminds me of the famous scene from "Army of Darkness". ![]() Good... Bad.... I'm the guy with the gun.” 7:59:19 PM 7/16/04 slimmer. “I have lost this battle. I should not even comment. I did not want to comment, but I am drawn to your needs and my needs to help. This could be a valuable lesson to some or a cheap shot to others. I apologize in advance and hope to conquer my addiction to shining the light in everyone elses eyes. The relationship I have on this board is not healty for me.” 8:07:41 PM 7/16/04 slimmer. “I have lost this battle. I should not even comment. Take it somewhere else.” 8:16:24 PM 7/16/04 Army of Darkness “ click on image MPAA: Rated R for violence and horror. User Comments: mm-39 The living Date: 4 February 2002 Summary: Stupid, fun I really like this film, it makes me laugh. It is weird, and funny at the same time. It has a book that bites, and other stupid gags. I watched the collector edition, with the 2 different endings. I like the original ending myself. This is not for the serious crowd! Check for other user comments.” 8:38:38 PM 7/16/04 “I have yet to see the Army of Darkness. I think I am going to have to rent that next week.” 11:29:46 PM 7/16/04 “Yeah I fought with myself for over a year before I left my wife. Damn I'm glad I won the argument.” 6:16:39 AM 7/17/04 “Nowslimmer, here is how I handled the exact same dilemma recently: "Son, we are spending over $30,000 grand a year to put you through college, and when you are home, all you do is sit at the computer, listen to music, chat with your buddies, and take time away from me creating trouble on the internet. So here is a list of songs I want you to download for me, and put on some disk." Works every time.” 7:29:56 AM 7/17/04 “Good morning, prosecutor. That does sound like a good way to recapture your computer. But please try to avoid trouble. Don't want to read about you getting banned again!” 7:51:10 AM 7/17/04 “Do you know how many anagrams of the word Prosecutor exist? If they do not want me posting under the name Prosecutor, then it is alright by me. A screen name with no history is much more difficult to deal with than one who frequently posts his true name, address, photo and phone number as Prosecutor does. But I never violate their posted rules, and if they ban me again, it is just further proof that they are arbitrary and capricious and don't follow their own rules.” 9:08:51 AM 7/17/04 “ 9:20:36 AM 7/17/04
