“Does anyone know how to get dog hair out of polar fleece? Nothing seems to work so far.” 12:25:53 PM 7/18/04 “Have you tried one of those lint rollers? You know -- a wide roll of masking tape with a handle...” 12:34:36 PM 7/18/04 “The tape-type lint rollers work. So does wearing a yellow kitchen glove and rubbing your hand over the fleece. The hair tends to stick to the rubber glove.” 1:30:54 PM 7/18/04 “Throw it in the dryer on very low for poly, roll it after you take it out with above suggestions, and run like hell out the door avoiding all possible contact with the dog. Works for me and its fun to watch the dog.” 1:44:26 PM 7/18/04 “I have tried those sponges made for hair removal. They only get the lion's share. Prevention is the best medicine.” 1:45:03 PM 7/18/04 “I just take a piece of duct tape and make a loop sticky side out around my hand...works like a charm. Monkeyboy is right that prevention is the best, I do not wash any of my fleece with anything other than backpacking gear or fleece throws, etc.” 2:03:04 PM 7/18/04 “Think of it as xtra insulation, Nigal. Seiously, the thing that works best for me is on of those pet hair removal rollers or duct tape.” 3:21:34 PM 7/18/04 “Yes, the ducttape definitely works, too. I was just thinking of the first (and Last) time I washed and dried black polartec stuff and towels together!” 3:30:41 PM 7/18/04 Good Luck............Bwaaa Ha Ha Haaaa Ha Ha Haaaa “When I bought my black NF 200wt fleece my buddy told me that as soon as I get it home that dog hairs will become magnetized to it and the coat will never look the same. Well...he was right. And you can't get all the hairs our because they tend to weave their way into the fabric. Now I view the situation as having a coat that is slightly warmer due to the extra insulation. lol” 3:45:27 PM 7/18/04 “Does the coat look like one of those racoon coats guys wore back in the day now Budder? I have done the washing, drying, tape, roller tricks so far. I'll have to try the rubber gloves. Thanks gang!” 7:57:00 PM 7/18/04 “Good luck on your mission!” 7:58:44 PM 7/18/04 “#1 dont let honey wear your fleece #2 shave the dog” 8:24:19 PM 7/18/04 “Shaving the dog doesn't do any good. The dog still sheds, but now it's pointy stubble bits.” 8:36:32 PM 7/18/04 “I caught a break on this one. Mugsy is a cockapoo and they don't shed.” 8:46:06 PM 7/18/04 “There is a chihuahua rescue site that will knit or chrochet your dog a sweater for a donation, but I wondered how you would get the hair out of it, but if it's for the dog, maybe it isn't as important to try and get the hair out. So I suggest you give your polar fleece to your dog, lol :)” 10:28:26 PM 7/18/04 Just give in and... “be at peace...I don't own anything that doesn't have Khatru hair on it, and that's ok...its like dirt...give in and be at peace.” 9:12:25 AM 7/19/04 “Make sure that all your fleece is the same color as your dog. I actually never noticed it. As long as it keeps me warm, I don't care what is on it.” 9:58:32 AM 7/19/04 “I gave up on this one. I just consider it extra insulation...” 2:46:01 PM 7/19/04 “Hey, this is an excellent thread topic! Yeah, in a related story, I left my fav hiking sandals on the porch one night. Came out the next morning and the dang cats had been sleeping on them. Now I can't get the friggin' cat hair outta the velcro straps!” 3:05:07 PM 7/19/04 “One benefit to having cat fur all over my gear is it keeps the shelter mice away.” 4:05:52 PM 7/19/04 “Just make sure that your pet and fleece are color coordinated.” 4:11:31 PM 7/19/04 “My dog is a tricolor, black, tan and white. What color shirt do I wear, lol? I don't mind the dog hair on my shirt, but if I drop her off at home to go to a grocery store, then it doesn't look as good to go out looking hairy. So, always keep your dog with you :)” 5:06:36 PM 7/19/04 LSH... “in your case, we would prefer you wear no shirt. Leave it and the hair at home.” 6:25:09 PM 7/19/04
