Sippin' TequilaView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 47 of 47 messages posted.
“While in Mexico week before last I decided to try a sippin' tequila. It's sort of on the low end though. I got a fifth of Herradura anejo. So far I like it. It's pretty smooth. I've been sipping it straight and chasing with ice water. Any tequila drinkers out there?” 5:12:49 PM 7/21/04 “isn't it a little early to be breaking into the tequilla?” 5:16:15 PM 7/21/04 “I haven't had any today. Maybe later. But, it's 5 o'clock somewhere.” 5:26:06 PM 7/21/04 “Just don't design any schools or hospitals while sippin'....” 5:27:08 PM 7/21/04 “Go over to the snow bank. Fill your cup with snow. Pour tequila over snow. Sit by alpine lake. Sip.” 5:38:48 PM 7/21/04 “did you get one with the worm? if so..did you eat it?” 6:13:38 PM 7/21/04 “They say, if you eat the worm you’ll see visions … eat the worm, eat the worm!!!” 8:16:23 PM 7/21/04 “I Luv Tequilla! (surprise!) The best tequilla (IMO) is the pure liquor from the blue agave cactus. Blanco variety is bottled immediately after distillation, reposado is rested for upto a year before bottled and anejo (the best) is rested for at least one year in special casks before bottling. My favorite tequilla is Patron Gold, it has an earthy musky taste that hits you in the back of the throat. Patron Silver is also excellent and has more of the spritely taste of other tequillas. Another tequilla I really like is Tres Generaciones, when I first tried the stuff I thought it tasted like butterscotch. yummmmm! Bobo's top shelf Margarita 1 part Grand Marinier 2 parts Tequilla 1 part lime juice - shaken with ice cubes in a jigger and served in margarita glasses (large margarita glasses) over crushed ice and a slice of lemon. :~] Makes ya dumb by the pool!” 8:36:07 PM 7/21/04 Patron? “mmmmm......tequila. Good Stuff. Forget Jose Cuervo, a good tequila is as good to sip as a single malt scotch or small batch bourbon. There's a bar in northern Michigan (Boyne City) that I can't remember the name of...anyway, it server "flights" of Tequila so you can tastings like you would with wine. My favorite was called "Patron" I think. First time I drank Tequila was in Tijuana. From what I've been told, I had a great time. tim” 8:47:11 PM 7/21/04 “so WHY is this thread under the "GEAR" section?? Something I need to know??” 8:55:04 PM 7/21/04 It Just Can't Be! “Sipping tequila??? Isn't that an oxymoron?” 9:51:03 PM 7/21/04 “Come el gusano...Los sueños son muy bien...” 10:46:54 PM 7/21/04 “Gemini - I put it under Gear since lots of us take flasks on trips. The tequila I bought is 100% blue agave. A buddy of mine recommended either Milagra of Patron. I couldn't find Patron and the Herradura was aged longer than Milagra. My buddy who educated me on this a bit says that the Milagra respado is better than the Herradura anejo. I don't know enough to tell the difference, but I'm liking it so far. He also informed me that Jose Cuervo is only good enough to make marguirittas for your in-laws. slowroller - Supposedly, real tequila doesn't have a worm. It's mezcal that has it. Mezcal is liquor that doesn't have enough agave in it to be classified as true tequila.” 7:01:27 AM 7/22/04 “so, that's what I fill it up with, with alcohol huh? always wondered what would fit in this little platapus flask here.” 8:03:11 AM 7/22/04 “good job, dayhiker. way to undermine all of matts efforts to have this board make sense : P one tequila two tequila three tequila floor” 8:09:57 AM 7/22/04 “Crash Bang, you seem to spend more time running your mouth here than hiking. I'm actually asking a real question. The perception is that tequila is a cheap drunk. I'm trying to ask about the high end stuff that isn't about getting smashed.” 8:31:44 AM 7/22/04 “dont get your panties in a knot, daysy, im just twistin yer hooters. and ill put my bag nights up against your bag nights any day” 8:38:12 AM 7/22/04 “Any tequila drinkers out there?" dayhiker 05:12:49 PM 07/21/04 Wouldn't it have been easier to inquire if there were any non tequila drinkers here?” 8:42:28 AM 7/22/04 “My bad, I just thought you were being your normally charming self.” 8:42:31 AM 7/22/04 “My legal friend, I should have known I'd get busted for that. I should have asked if anyone tries the good stuff. So far I'm liking the good stuff. You don't get whiplash when taking a sip.” 8:43:42 AM 7/22/04 “CB - are you still in Virginia?” 8:48:09 AM 7/22/04 “I believe it's Petrone, not Patron.” 9:03:37 AM 7/22/04 “The tequila seems to disappear faster than anything else around my house but I don't sip it. I drink a lot of margarittas though...on the rocks.” 9:54:39 AM 7/22/04 I think my liver quivered,,,uuugghhh. “Talk about bitter 'beer' face,, a friend ordered up a round last night,, the schit came out of short roundish clear bottle,, someone said it was tequilla,,,it could've been ether for all I know. No salt, or lemon,,,,you know it's good schit when one shot and several brewdaddy's has you spinning in the morning. Why is everyone talking so loud?” 10:06:55 AM 7/22/04 “what was the tequila that the geo-family had at ithaca?” 10:11:36 AM 7/22/04 “i was a firefly that night, it really hit me hard (plus i dont drink much)” 10:17:20 AM 7/22/04 I buy Patron “Nope, what I'm buying is definately Patron. The silver and gold varieties come in green and yellow boxes (hey, I didn't package them). If you can't find them in your state it might be because they're not offered in that state or in PA we have "speciality" wine and liquor shops where you have to go to buy the goood stuff. The worm is in Mezcal. The mezcal is another form of tequilla, not sure of it's origins. But the story was that the worm was dropped in alive during bottling. Mezcal is a precursor to Mescaline, which is a very potent hallucinogen. The worm was thought to suck the mescaline precursor out of the tequilla, so if you ate the worm - you would see visions. I don't know if this is really true, but I've chewed a few worms in my day. People ask, "Do you get off on the worm???" The problem with the worm is by the time you empty the bottle to get to the worm, you're soo #&%!$-faced that you might already be seeing visions! Of course, for those talented individuals, there are ways to get the worm out of the bottle before drinking all the liquor! (I bet Maple knows how!!!)” 10:30:03 AM 7/22/04 “man, I used to get so drunk on tequila :) I dont drink anymore tho. Those were the good old days!” 11:23:06 AM 7/22/04 “man, I used to get so drunk on tequila :) I dont drink anymore tho. Those were the good old days! Lost a lot of shirts back then...:) Party nights, wohoo!” 11:23:43 AM 7/22/04 “I think I am going to get me drunk tonight :)!!!! Whos with me? Party at Crazy Mikes! :) (BYOB or you can share tequila with me but the body shots are for mike only ;) )” 10:47:51 AM 7/23/04 “A lady that i know just came from columbia, She smiled because i did not understand. Then she held out some marijuana, ha ha! She said it was the best in all the land. And i said, "no, no, no, no, i don't smoke it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze, And then it makes it hard to find the door." (ah-ah-aye-aye) A woman that i know just came from majorca, spain, She smiled because i did not understand. (parazzi! Parazzi!) (ole!) Then she held out a ten pound bag of cocaine, She said it was the finest in the land. And i said, "no, no, no, no, i don't sniff it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze, And then it makes it hard to find the door." (aye-aye-aye-aye) (aye-aye-aye-aye) (aye-aye-aye-aye) (aye-aye-aye) A man that i know just came from nashville, tennessee, oo, (oh no!) He smiled because i did not understand. Then he held out some moonshine whiskey, oh ho, He said it was the best in all the land. (and he wasn't joking!!!) And i said, "no, no, no, no, i don't drink it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze, And then it makes it hard to find the door." Well, i said, "no, no, no, no, i can't take it no more, I'm tired of waking up on the floor. No, thank you, please, it only makes me sneeze, And then it makes it hard to find the door." Hey yeh! "i'll just have another drink, barman, have you got a large brandy?"” 10:49:00 AM 7/23/04 “Tequila tastes like urine” 3:46:07 PM 7/23/04 “I can honestly tell you, it DOES NOT taste like Urine.” 3:47:41 PM 7/23/04 “I can honestly tell you, it DOES NOT taste like Urine.” 3:47:46 PM 7/23/04 “Ahhhh, another discerning urine taster???” 3:48:39 PM 7/23/04 “mmmmmm tequila let, me get this staight, green and yellow boxes..Patron What is the price range of the good stuff? 40-50 dollars?” 12:11:09 AM 7/24/04 “My understanding is that the good stuff starts at around 40 and goes up over 100” 6:09:20 AM 7/24/04 “oh yeah, 40 bucks and up!” 8:11:30 AM 7/24/04 “Most people's perception of Tequilla is the Jose Quervo type stuff. That is in NO way even close to comperable to a real sipping tequila. My preference is Tres Generaciones.” 9:56:18 AM 7/24/04 “On rare occassion, it's fun to do a tequila shot with lemon and salt. I made myself a strawberry daquerie the other day. It's light rum, daquerie mix, ice, and I threw in some frozen strawberries. It was really good, and I used 1-1/2 shots of rum per drink and I had two drinks and I was feeling....high. The next day, I had an eye ache from it, but not really hung over. I don't know how people can drink everyday.” 12:37:13 PM 7/24/04 “the patron tequila was 47-66 dollars. the orange box "anejo" was $66. Consequently I haven't purchased any yet. The recipe you provided Capn BoBo is my personal fav also” 8:14:03 PM 7/24/04 “Orange? Hmmm, looked yellow to me!!! *8~b” 8:28:04 AM 7/25/04 “I move to dissolve the corporation in a pool of Margaritas!” 9:28:45 AM 7/25/04 “bright green=?$47 orange=anejo=$66 yellow=?=$5? Anyway, I cant wait till payday, i'm gonna get me a bottle” 5:28:57 PM 7/25/04 “Mmmm, I haven't had Patron Gold in quite some time. It is pure "Sippin' Tequila". To mix it in a drink is really wasting the unique taste. It's a taste unlike any other tequilla I've ever had. It hits you in the back of the throat and the base of your sinuses, dark, musty, you can taste the wood from the aging barrel! Extremely smooth with no aftertaste. Maybe alittle lemon to clear the palate after snorting back a good sized shot, salt if you wish but not necessary. If ya want to make a drink, go for the best buy. Around this-a-way, Tres Generaciones anejo was on sale for about $35, so I bought it!” 7:28:12 PM 7/25/04 “no, might as well cut the carbs and drink it straight, that is when I get off this newcastle ale kick” 8:14:13 PM 7/25/04 howdy “..been away for months, can't wait to go on a TT hike this fall. Anyway, I acquired a taste for good tequila the few years I lived in Texas. In Dallas, many restaurants have a tequila list rather than a wine list. My favorite is El Tesoro de Don Felipe...both the Blanco and Anejo are excellent. They make a Reposado as well but I haven't seen it in the Southeast. Chinaco is also very good.” 6:27:03 AM 7/26/04
