Actually it's just gold brown rather than a cool ash brown. My hair really picks up gold/yellow tones easily so I usually avoid them. This looks nice though.

8 year old came to me today... "cut my hair off... i want it bald."

hey, who am i to argue with an 8 year old who wants his hair cut short.

the little pup has less hair than the day he was born now.

he seems satisfied, proud even, but his 10 year old sister is in tears... hysteric even... doesn't want to be seen with him in public.

... and now the method in his madness shines through. chip off the 'old block!

That's exactly the cut that my son's gave each other every summer with the buzzers. wash & wear, easy care!

I gave my youngest that kind of cut a few times when he was in single digits.
The other boys called him "Chemo".

That's exactly the kind of cut Birch gives himself. I cry and insist I won't go out in public, but he keeps on doing it. ;)

I do that every summer too, but I do leave about 1/4 to 1/2 inch to act as sun block.

i used to do this as well but it was my standard haircut for years and years. i couldn't stand having hair on my head. then i became old and crunchy (turned 40) and realized it was about to all fall out and that i might as well have one last fling with the hair business. it has taken a lot of getting used to. biggest problem is actually keeping it cut. i haven't been to a barber in a decade and hate, hate, hate having my hair cut... so i do it myself.

biggest problem for me is cooling since i am very active. i feel like i am always wearing a hat on my head. this winter it was ok, but this summer i am certain i'll be grabbing the buzzer every other day swearing i have reached the end of my rope.

Anyone cut their own hair?

I'm tired of paying someone $15 for a buzz cut.
For $15, I can buy some cheap clippers at WallyWorld.

yeah I cut my own - mainly because I'm a cheap bastard who does not like to wait for a barber plus I don't give hoot how I look - btw its easiest for me to just use the clippers with no attachements (end up with really short hair)

Few women are interested 'that way' in me now since my stroke, so why should I care how my hair looks? At least I have hair.

Dog clippers at 3 mm is the way it works for me. Worst that happens is I look like a zebra for a while. Hard to see the back and I tend to leave stripes.

I scrape down to bare metal about every 6 months and follow it up with a razor. My weapon of choice is my mustache trimmer without the guard. I've stuck with this plan since my through hike.

What's the matter with looking like a squirrel?? I shave my head completely bald, never pay for a haircut but I think it's a wash when you add in the aftershave, shaving cream and out of this world razor blade prices.

one razor blade lasts a long time for me - I only shave once a week - I couldn't care less what the company thinks either - if those bastards don't like the way I look then they can just give me a SERO and I would never darken their doorstep again
