BTW, did that count as rape?

i mean, WTF?!?

the probi conversation was the weirdest, funniest, and most uncomfortable thing i've heard in a long time

i didn't know whether to laugh, vomit, or squirm

i wonder what the real FDNY thinks of the show. they don't exactly portray them as nice guys, but do beat ya over the head with the underpaid/overstressed argument.

plus leary runs that charity for them and gets them craploads of donations.

Most Firemen I know are fairly smart dudes. There is a lot of specialized training and exams they must pass.
A large percentage of the men on that show are shown as idiots.
But then again, it is NYC, and TV. ;-)

From the NYC website:
What is the starting salary?
Answer: The current minimum salary is $32,724, plus up to $6,500 in differentials and other pay.

Not too bad to me. That's almost $19 an hour for a starting salary.
Some degreed Engineers start about that same salary without time and half overtime like the Firemen get.
StoveStomper

ya, but not in NYC!
sacco

Hey yeah, that's about $600+ per week in a place where "cheap" rent is about $1200 per month.

Living with mom and/or eating Alpo could make it work.

In NYC engineers would make over 50K, I suppose.

Not paid enough
New Orleans fire fighters annual salary after one year is $32,870.00
• State Pay (after 1 year of service) $300.00 monthly
• Uniform Allowance $500.00 annually
• Millage $1700.00 annually (approximate)

As much as I think I would enjoy being a professional fire fighter that paycheck ain't gonna cut it with Mrs. Bateauxdriver. She'd be lighting a fire up my arse.

FDNY FF's are obviously required to live in their district...single probies (rookies, newbies, whatever ya wanna call 'em) usually live in communal apartments for the first few years. A friend of mine lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with 6 other guys for the first 2 years. The guys were all FDNY probies and they had alternating shifts (4 days on, 4 days off) so it worked I guess. Rent was something like 2600 a month in all.
=:0

Rescue me is a great show with parts truth and parts tv-spinning. I know a lot of FF's that watch it. "Saved" is another one that just came out that deals with the life of a paramedic...
the jury is still out on this one:
A)because it is on so late, I usually fall asleep. LOL
B)the first episode had people getting busy in the back of an ambulance...which almost never happens.
;)

so what do we think of this season so far?

for me:

- what happened to tommy's not-really-so-its-ok-to-date stepsister? i was hoping to see her again.
- the SS/franco storyline seems a little... off.
- i miss laura. i liked her in the show
- gay probi

+ uncle teddy in prison = funny stuff
+ marisa tomei = i love her, and her role
+ the hot teacher
+ gay probi (i really can't decide)

I really need to start watching television. I thought this had something to do with someone or something needing to be rescued. Not that I'm up to it, just wanted to see who was up to their butt in gators.

The gay probi is a loser plot line.
I'm not buying it.

I did LMAO when Tommy asked "Well who did she call?" and they fliped to the hot ex-wife of his dead buddy.

IMHO that ex-wife of his dead buddy is the one Tommy should be with.
She is so smokin' HOT.
StoveStomper

Don't forget the ex-wife "raping" Tommy after he "raped" her.

Lot of slow story lines:

who will steal the money from the smoking pool?

gay probie (he's not, he's just "sensitive"

Uncle Teddy (funny as hell, but sadly missing from most episodes)

I miss the dead people and especially the moments last year with Jesus. (remember last year when he popped his head up in the back of Tommy's truck and flashed the big "L" sign on his forehead? LMAO!)
Nonconformist

good points.

psycho is hot, but marisa tomei is ...ahhhugggghhh...

i bet someone steals the smokin $$ but we won't find out who till the end of the season or something

what season are we on?

I rented the first season and got all the way through it. i missed the first part of the second season. i just picked up on it last week, though i did catch the end of the week before when he raped his ex.

Questions

Where did she go when she emptied the house out.

What happened with Lou and the dead guy's ex-wife?

Who's Tommy screwing nowadays?

No more dead people? Is he cured? Jesus? I don't remember that.

So, when Tommy got home and that crazy chic drugged him then did him.... You think there's a chance he was still, uhhh, excited...(remember it wouldn't go down when he was with Marisa...) and they'll try to pull a Crazy Lady is Presggers With His Baby story?

This is only the fourth or fifth episode I've ever seen of this show. I plan to rent the first seasons so I can get caught up.
