A Bush in the woodsView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 8 of 8 messages posted.
“We were hiking out of Glacier. going from Elizabeth Lake to the Chief Mountain Trailhead. We ran into a large group coming in about 4 miles out of the Lake. A Lady with a Southern accent, politely greeted us, asked us where we had been, commented on our large packs, and told us to have a nice day. A Ranger following them asked us for our permit. The large group held there ground as he asked us about our trip and where we were from. I thought it strange that he seemed to be grilling us in a tense sort of way, his "small talk" seemed kind of forced. As we continued on Hallowayb commented 'that women was wearing makeup.' To which I replied 'Southern Ladies never leave the house without putting their face on'. In another mile we hit the Ranger Cabin and were informed that we could not rest/eat there because 'there was too much going on today.' Two of our members, one a Texan, who were a little behind us, asked the Ranger if that Lady was Laura Bush. The Texan pegged her. I excuse my inability to ID her by the fact that I never thought I would run into a Bush in the woods.” 12:19:24 PM 7/23/04 “Damn, I thought this was going to be a "I caught some girls nude sunbathing in the backcountry" thread.” 12:22:34 PM 7/23/04 “Sooooo... good joke!” 12:24:03 PM 7/23/04 “I would have much rather seen that also, bit.” 12:29:04 PM 7/23/04 “Was she chopping down trees to save them from fire?” 12:54:39 PM 7/23/04 “No, but she did hire at least 6 horses to carry equipment in order to boost the local economy. Not quite sure why they were about 5 miles behind, though.” 1:01:34 PM 7/23/04 “Sounds like a high security version of a "Muffy and Tish Tish shop LL Bean and go hiking" expedition.” 1:59:55 PM 7/23/04 “Did she bake you some cookies?” 3:47:32 PM 7/23/04
