Monday Morning Hike At Sunrise

“Ford and me went up to Sunrise, at Mt. Rainier, for a quick morning hike. We did a loop from Sourdough Ridge, up to 1st Burroughs Mt., back down the Wonderland Trail, popped over to Ford's ever favorite lake, Shadow Lake, and headed back. Almost nobody around-didn't pass anyone on the trail except at the start and finish. I love mondays in the mountains ;-)
Saw a ton of animals this morning. It was very quiet, just a cold wind, and a blue sky. I could see the smoke from a forest fire in the Gifford-Pinchot NF though - and I could see smoke from the North Cascades direction :-(

I figure I need to see EVERY forest in Wa state before they all freaking burn down! (Way too many drought years!!)
It's kinda like my view on Volcanoes....see them before they blow up! My dad was always claiming he'd take us to see St. Helens when I was Ford's age, and then the *&^% mt. blew when I was like 7 years old. Thanks again Dad! So I have been dragging Ford around all the volcanic Mts since he was like 2 years old ]:) He has seen more of Rainier than most 70 years old have :-D”
