Hogzilla, the legend grows
Thursday, July 29, 2004 Posted: 9:16 AM EDT (1316 GMT)

ALAPAHA, Georgia (AP) -- Around these parts, they are calling it Hogzilla: a 12-foot-long wild hog recently killed on a plantation and now quickly becoming a part of local legend.
The plantation's owner claims the hog weighed 1,000 pounds and had 9-inch tusks. But few people have actually seen the hog -- the only proof being a photo that shows the dead beast hanging from a rope.

Feral hogs tend to taste gamey. I've got some research and recipes that claim to elimiante or reduce the gaminess though. That's be one hell of a barbecue there. You'd need to build a custom spit to fit that sucker.

Say, are those its nuts sitting on top, looking folded over?

Dang! I hunted all over for an on-line photo of that thing so I could post it here, to no avail....

I prefer the taste of wild game to anything you can buy in the supermarket.

"Plantation"? Is this another word for fenced in shootin' ranch?

No, it's a piece of property left wild with a few cleared areas on it. It's not developed at all, and there generally aren't fences . At least that's the case in this region. You WANT animals to wander onto your property!

We have "ranches" down here in southern Ohio where they breed hogs and then let the go on their property which is fenced in and then they charge people about $300 to come and shoot 'em.

LOL, Treebait isn't a blushing Southern Belle is she? ;-)
Yes, Treebait, those are full size uncut hog testicles.

I think the hog is a lot closer to the camera than the guy standing behind it.
I like to use that trick when I catch a big fish. I'll hold it toward the camera. Makes the fish look huge.

Stovie, just so you know, I'm from Michigan. I'm another one of those "blunt midwesterners."
