No! My 26-month long project wrapped up yesterday, so I'm gonna slack for a day or two. :)

I just checked my 3-day account, and I finally reached my $2k goal. Only took two weeks after the event, but oh well!

I've stalled at $1665, but they say they won't have all checks counted as late as 4 weeks after receipt. I might still make "jersey" level, but not bad for only a month of effort towards fundraising. My mind has definitely shifted from fund raising to training!

Looks like I will have some support in Austin after all. Wifey and her good friend from the old days in Houston will be there. Training for 100 miles/5-6 hours appears on schedule.

You can still donate after today, but will not count towards "Jersey Level", will still count towards me if you fill out the info. See My Peloton Page below. Thanks for you that helped out, my TT friends really came through. I'm at $1665 today. Hope to make it to $2500, "White Jersey" with donations online today and checks coming in.

My plans for the DC Ride, Grand Finale for the Tour of Hope are falling together. Will be arriving in DC 10/8, ride 10/9, depart 10/10.

LAF: Great organization, if you have had cancer, know somebody with cancer or want to help fight cancer and support cancer survivors, check it out!

Path --

I posted this on hte other thread, but thought I would put it here as well.

I just met this guy. He was presenting to my group at work:
Dennis Cavner
Mr. Cavner is a principal of Waxman Cavner Lawson, a financial services firm serving high net worth individuals. He has been actively involved with the Lance Armstrong Foundation since 1999 and currently serves as vice chairman of the LAF board of directors. Cavner holds both business and law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and currently serves on the UT Planned Giving Council. He lives with his wife Chris in Austin, Texas

Smart guy. He has developped a private placement life insurance product for high net worth folks.

He is headed to Washington this weekend.

Gave me a Livestrong braclet.

Now i have to dig out that contribution form and get my money in!

Peloton 2004 is over. I raised $1905 by word of mouth and online, passed out a couple of hundred LAF brochures, and rode in two charity events big enough to bring out Lance himself, 27 and 100 miles, both of which brought great PR to the LAF. Did the Ride for the Roses 100 miles in 6.5 hours rolling time, 7.5 total. The conditions were pretty tough in the second half of the race. Headwinds of 20 mph or so, rolling hills and 90F with 65% humidity. Lance, Will Ferrell and Robin Williams warmed up the 6,500 riders and ?? spectators, Sheryl Crow sang the National Anthem.

Also got to see Ann Curry do a live interview with Lance, several cancer survivors were on stage to ask him questions.

Thanks to those who contributed!

Peloton 2005 has begun!

So, has anyone ordered any yellow bracelets from the LAF site and actually recieved them? I ordered them 4 weeks ago, and I can't get any sort of confirmation that they've shipped the braceltes. My e-mail to customer service has bounced back. I am so ticked off....

Smiley, have you tried buying them at REI or a local bike shop. I got mine at the bike shop back when the Tour was going on.

There's been a rash of fake ones on the market these days. They look exactly like Lance's wristbands, but the money goes "elsewhere."

Yes, I got your e-mail. I'll respond soon, life has been pretty hellish lately.

yikes, hope that price wasn't for one.

a friend of mine is a member of an organization that is having a national meeting here in Tn. They contacted Lance about speaking at it. His charge is
$250,000 for a 20 minute speech. Most of the money goes to the LAF which is cool. Their event was being held in 2 yrs. He had to refuse because he is scheduled to train that day. Seems he has his training schedule made out for the next 5 yrs.

Well, LAF finally responded to my e-mail (after one bounce-back) and it appears that my order has shipped, and I should recieve it soon. If I get the package in the next week, LAF will be back on my good list!
