Trip this weekend in North East

“There has been a rumbling on another thread about pulling something together for this weekend. Anyone want to commit to something? I'm free for the weekend and I want some trail!”

“I'm going to do a quick dayhike up to Old Rag in Shenandoah for the sunrise on Saturday. I have to make it quick because I am on call and I am really supposed to stay in DC. :)”

“Are you on call for 24 hours on Saturday or just something like 9 to 5? Doesn't sound like you're really meeting your employer's obligations if you're not available within a certain time frame.”

“lumberzac - unfortunately that's about an 8 hour drive from my office (I would leave from there on Friday afternoon). I need something a bit closer for a weekend trip. Might be doable for a week-long trip though.”

“Well, if it makes you feel less looney, I'm driving up to the Adirondacks trip from South Jersey on Friday night and just camping at the trailhead whenever I get up there...

It's definitely do-able.”

“I would camp out Friday night at the trailhead, too - done it before for a Sat. morning hike start - its the 16 hours of driving that is the problem.”
