Actually Bison, the Bush/Cheney official web site had a spot with Kerry, Gore and Dean morphing into Hitler.

That's OK. I'm convinced that some of the libs around here have had their heads so far up their asses for so long that they've just gotten used to the smell of the #&%!$ they're peddling.

Violon, you're Mr. Pollster, check the polls. The great majority of war veterans are backing Bush over Kerry. If you know someone personally otherwise, that's fine, but that doesn't skew the national polls. I know, I must be either retarded or on drugs to point this fact out. :Þ

Just to save you some work, El Violino, here it is.

Among Veterans: Bush 58% Kerry 35%

Thursday August 05, 2004--A Rasmussen Reports survey shows that military veterans prefer George W. Bush over John Kerry by a 58% to 35% margin. Those with no military service favor Kerry by ten percentage points, 51% to 41%.

I saw it with my own eyes before they took it down Bison. A simple google search would answer your question but you can read this if you want proof: Hitler Image Used in Bush Campaign Web Ad

That's ridiculuous Violin, you're referring to an ad which was a response to the moveon.org add, Hitler's image was not in any way used to compare Kerry etc. to Hitler, it was used to show that people who support them were comparing Bush to Hitler. Not the same thing by any stretch of the imagination.

Violin? Did you read the article about the Hitler ad?

"...disclaimer was added to the beginning of the Web spot on Saturday afternoon to explain that the video contains "remarks made by and images from ads sponsored by Kerry supporters." The disclaimer also accuses Kerry of failing to denounce those who have compared Hitler to Bush."

It was a mockery of the pro-Kerry MoveOn.org ad that showed Bush as Hitler. Duuuude, what a twist! I didn't think an explanation was necessary?

End of story.

Violin, just to let you know, when I discuss Presidential politics it's "big picture" stuff on a national level, taking the pulse of the nation... not your next door neighbor. Obviously even if 58% of veterans prefer Bush over Kerry, there are still many tens of thousands of veterans who prefer Kerry, and maybe even one of them works in an office next to you. Yes, it's possible, as amazing as those odds are. :^D

My mom likes Prez Bush... TAKE THAT! OOoooOOOOooo.
Buck
12:57:00 PM
8/24/04

Yet when the repubs raised this as a Clinton issue it was irrelevant.

Bob Dole served in combat and put his life on the line, Clinton took the privileged cowards way out.

Bush (senior) served in combat and put his life on the line, Clinton took the privileged cowards way out.

Clinton was THE model president was he not?

Therefore avoiding combat should be a desirable trait, along with not inhaling. GWB was accused of imbibing not inhaling.

goog, Kerry put his life on the line, committed war atrocities against fellow human beings (his words, not mine) and brags about his war decorations in the process, then slams his country (he has every right to do so) and then wants you to believe he's a war hero. Go figger. I'd rather he just stayed home and watched Gomer Pyle and I Dream Of Jeannie than the things he said and did afterwards. I think, in the long run, he did more harm than good. That's my right to think that, and it's the right of many veterans who fought in the same war as him as well.

What the hell has that to do with '04.

Poppy Bush was an airplane driver.
He didn't do anything particularly heroic.
He got shot down, or so the story goes.
His crew did not survive.
Maybe he panicked and abandoned his radio operator/tail gunner.

Poppy Bush joined the U.S. Navy to prove his family's loyalty after his father was busted in '42 for TRADING WITH THE ENEMY.

I heard an interview with Michael Dukakis the other day. During his campaign against Daddy Bush there were stories put out that Bush ditched too soon and doomed the rest of his crew. Dukakis said he came out and said that there were legitimate differences between their positions that were open for debate but he wouldn’t stand for the trashing of his opponent’s war record. Too bad little George isn’t the man Dukakis is.

For anyone who is interested, msnbc has an archive of the Bush/Cheney Hitler ad (click 'Launch Video') and thememoryhole has the two ads that appeared on the moveon.org contest site.

"....there were stories put out that Bush ditched too soon and doomed the rest of his crew."

Thanks, Viola!

I remembered hearing something like that.

Poppy was a twenty year old kid flyin' a ten-ton airship.

He may have panicked and saved his own ass......"every man for himself"!

But it's the driver's responsibility to look after HIS crew.

I think it was an Avenger with a rear man and a bombardier below.
The other two boys didn't have time to get out and drowned after the ditching.

I would like to see "documentation" on Big Daddy's "heroism".

I remember the same thing. I also remember Mike D getting slammed for ecen bringing the question up that Bush screwed up.

Times had changed, but the hyprocracy still stays the same.

Bush I made a big deal out of Clinton's non-service, but this is off limits for Bush II.

Typical and should not be suprising concidering who were are talking about. This is the typical Repub move: Smear and define the other guy and make himplay defense.

In this case, it has caused Kerry to spend more money on ads now that he was saving for the push at the end. Now, with this political smear, the Repubs have placed Kerry in a poor situation in the Fall.

If Kerry was smart, he'd go after Bush on HIS record, but that's too much of a gimme. There are alot of issues that need to be talked about, but are not.

Where are you getting theses Poll results?
Pew, 7/23/04:

As was the case in 2000, there is only a small "veteran gap" in the current campaign. Bush leads among male veterans by nine points (49%-40%), while male non-veterans are almost evenly divided in their candidate preferences (46% Bush/44% Kerry). During the Democratic primary campaign, there also were no indications Kerry had made inroads among veterans. Exit polls from the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries showed he ran about as well among veterans as non-veterans in those states.

lagtis, Unlike you and the others who have been trying to shut down the Swift Boat heros, I have NEVER advocated taking away anyone's right to speak. Even you.

The guys with the radio shows? They aren't there because the republican supporters are paying for the time. They are there because people are listening and sponsors are buying the time.

Go but some time and put your guy on.

The fact is several times more 527 money is spent smearing Bush than Kerry.
