This photo was taken from near Prusik Pass or Enchantment Peak looking South towards Little Annapurna.”

The view from the summit of Dragontail Peak lookig towards Mt. Stuart in the distant center. From the top of Aasgard Pass it's a simple hike up some ice, a hiker with crampons and ice axe can do this.”

Looking at the summit of Mt. Stuart as seen from the false summit. Only a couple more minutes weaving along the connecting ridge to reach the summit. As always, easiest route was taken.”

Mt. Stuart seen from Longs Pass at the end of June 2000. The next day would be summit. From the pass drop down into the valley below and camp. The route goes up the gully to the right where it meets the broad talus & snow field. From there attain the false summit (which is some fairly steep snow near the top of the flase summit. Then waltz along the connecting ridge to the summit. Stuart (9200+ ft) is the second highest non-volcanic peak in Washington. (second to Bonanza)”

The Enchantments are in Washington state, near the town of Leavenworth. Very popular backpacking destination with a limited permit system.”

I just looked at that photo from the summit of Enchantment Peak and realized Dragontail Peak is pretty much centered. Dragontail Plateau is to the left.”

“Nice pics Sarbar and USA. Did you go up Asgard Pass, Sarbar? Years ago I camped on the top of Asgard pass, at the first little puddle of a lake, and sitting around camp all day we counted 100+ people who came through. They were in several groups of 15+. So that is why they got the restrictive permit system.

We also had a Ptarmigan mommy come through camp with about 15 little tiny chicks. They were totally unafraid of us and walked right up to us, hopped in tents, explored camp, and the hen was having a heart attack 20 feet away.

“Quite possibly some of the nicest red X's in white boxes I've ever seen, spock!”

“Sadly, the last two times to Colchuck have involved freezing cold snow storms..since I like to sneak in week before $$ permit season starts ;-) This last time it was a two part venture-to help my friends with their climb of Colchuck Glacier, and also using teh GPS cordinates of the last camp of the gentleman who disapeared up there last fall (04). His widow's sister rides the bus with my boyfriend. They lived near us. His body has not been found and has not been declared dead. He left behind a HUGE family of kids and a stay at home wife. I plan on going back up next year again to look for clues. I would hope if I disapear ever, people will look for me!”
