Nice work and congrats. I like the photo of the rays of light around the tree. Very ethereal.

Zen...
Luck has little to do with great photography. But you are on the right track... you've got to be there to get a great photograph. Backpacking is the way to do it.

Goat,

I know. As a photographer, I am decent and improving. No where near having my own show, but improvement is good enough for me.

Just swtched to digital and am getting the hang of a new medium. Check out the link in my profile. The one in the "scanned pics" album was definately a product of a little bit of luck and a lot of just going down the water's wdge to see what was happening.

Starting the 10th, I'm going to spend 8 days in a pretty sweet place for work, I should be able to come up with some great pics from there.

That is a sweet shot Zen.

Taking these classes has been a wonderful experience. Hanging out with the other photography students... comparing notes, sharing ideas, having the instructor critique your photos and suggest things to make them even better next time...helps a bunch...I highly reccomend taking a class. :)

Zen...
A gig in Alaska! You might come up with something there.
Working with a digital system will allow you to view your work quickly and inexpensively. Improvement is just around the corner.
Myself, still working with 35mm. I've shot mostly color the past 8 years, but am working on moving into B&W now. I am oldschool and don't take kindly to tweeking images in a digital darkroom.

*** Congrats windwalker on your gallery show. I know how much it means to get your best work hanging in a prominent place. Your work is wonderful! ***

Wind,

I've been contemplating a photo class for about year now, but am a little reluctant to do it for a couple of reasons. One, I have a tendancy to live a few hours away from any sort of instituion of higher learning. Two, I'm a little afraid that I'll have to rehash things that I've already taught myself. I figured out exposure, aperature, filters and a bit of composition by myself and I don't really need to learn it again (so I think). Hanging out with other people that have an obsession with taking pictures would definately be a huge plus.

Goat,
I was dead set on not switching over to digital too, but then I broke my 35mm camera and I figured that if going digital was only going to cost me about a year's worth of film developing. So I decided, why not? I already had the lenses, might as well.

Thanks for the link.
I've got over 1200 photographs posted on my web site. Lots of it is crap, but it tells a story about the past 8 years of traveling through 47 states, 8 provinces of Canada and 8 European nations. Go to the thumbnail index page and click on the long red arrows between the thumbnail images. This will allow you to quickly look through chronolgically listed thumbnail images.

Link to Viking Helmet...
http://www.costumeshopper.com/
search for "Viking Helmet" Great price on the $17.00 helmet. I've seen them at costume shops for more than $50.

Zen,

What kind of digital camera let you use your 35 mm lenses? I have resisted the switch for just that reason. I didn't know my Zuiko lenses would fit any digitals.
