BowlderMan have you left for Desolation “Hello Bowlderman I will keep my eye open for you and your son this weekend. Im either doing pyramid peak, or will be in the same area you are at. the weather forcast for the Tahoe area calls for sunny and around 82 at lake level. I do not know what you look like..are you tall or short, or medium height? You may not get this message, but just in case you are still there. Have a wonderful time!” 11:01:50 AM 8/06/04 “I'm outta here in 15 minutes! Here's pretty much what I look like. Hope to bump into you up there! Also, Pepperdog said she might be dayhiking up that way, too. Look for us at Hemlock Lake!” 1:39:46 PM 8/06/04 “madein - there is a slim chance I will go up to Hemlock Lake tomorrow (sunday) for a hike in the woods and to see if I can find BowlderMan. I spent the day today at Squaw Valley, rode the cable car to the top and hiked around. Lots of beautiful wildflowers. I don't know that I will be up for another big drive tomorrow.” 12:03:02 AM 8/08/04 “Ha! Probably woulda missed me - we broke camp at 8:30 this AM (Sunday) and were in the car driving home (via In 'n' Out Burger) by 10:30. Trip report tomorrow!” 6:40:16 PM 8/08/04 “Hello BowlderMan & BowlderSon Bowlderman thanks for the great picture of you so I could see what you looked like! I ended up backpacking to twin lakes, this was my very 1st solo backpacking trip..just me and my dog Lucy. I left on Saturday, had to park at the overflow parking lot and hike into the TH. TH parking lot was full. I think I saw the two of you! The time was I think between maybe 2:00 & 3:00 I was at the upper twin lakes.. I looked up I saw one tall person & a shorter person and a red jacket. I was thinking this might be you and your son..you two were right above the waterfall that drains into upper twin heading for what looked to me like Island lake.. I should have maybe went back to the dam at lower twin and waited to see if it was you two, but Lucy was so hot and tired I needed to find a campsite with shade for her. It was a wonderful trip for me....my husband was very worried about me going solo...well almost solo I did have Lucy with me, he did feel better that I take her and have a cell phone with me. I have always wanted to do a trip by myself, it was great! I was looking forward on meeting both of you & maybe Pepperdog, but if that was you two on the ridge above the waterfall, then I did see you in a very far distance HA!! I will go read your trip report and look at your pictures now. Let me know if that was you two on the ridge...im so curious. Pepperdog, sorry I was not able to met you either... sounds like you had a wonderful day hiking and seeing the flowers at Squaw, I have heard the flowers up in there are really beautiful. Were they still pretty colorful? as some areas I have been hiking some are already gone, yet some areas they are still pretty much at there peak.” 10:54:49 AM 8/09/04 “Yes, that was us! You'll see BowlderSon's red jacket in the photos. It was pretty toasty, wasn't it?” 11:01:36 AM 8/09/04 “Yes, bowlderSon's red jacket! I saw that red jacket for sure. Oh how exciting, so it was you two thats pretty neat I saw you then on the ridge. Yes it was very very HOT that day, and Sunday too. I do not remember a day hiking in Desolation when it was that hot before. On the way up there was a very small pool of water I stopped at to rest and for Lucy, on the way out Sunday it was totally dried up. That hot weather just zapped it away. When I looked at your pictures and saw Cameron was wearing a red jacket, I said that had to been them! Thanks for letting me know for sure it was you two” 2:15:33 PM 8/09/04
