Dogs?View MessagesIndiana John “Lots of luck in working all this out. My brother-in-law had a golden, which really thought he was a lap dog. Funny.” 8:16:00 AM 1/07/05 “goldens are like that. They make great pets and very obedient.” 8:18:27 AM 1/07/05 “No torture? I better call the Human Society back.” 8:32:39 AM 1/07/05 “Indian, it's not your fault that your situation changed since you got your dog. I'd like to know what makes certain dogs lap dogs? Why do little dogs want to sit in your lap or maybe it only certain little dogs?” 2:21:30 PM 1/07/05 “I'd be happy to take a dump in UP's yard now and again.” 2:28:25 PM 1/07/05 “I have a chow and she loves to be with me. All the rain lately made daily walks impossible but I got in a good one today and she is much happier. A general rule for a house dog is to get a mile of exercise a day minimum...surely you can come up with 30 minutes a day for a walk. If nothing else take it for a ride while doing errands, they don't care they just want to be with you and have your attention.” 4:56:26 PM 1/07/05 “I have owned Labs and Retrievers for more than 20 years. They need companionship. Attention, touch. Especially from a loving HUMAN !!!!!!! At 4 years old he is in his prime. Needs to HIKE and SWIM. Quality time if you don't have quanity time. I have been through a divorce and yes it's as close to hell as I want to get, but my lab became my best friend, Didn't fool around on me, steal my money, raise HELL at me, or complained at all. I then realized what a man's best friend was all about. If you would like to sell your Retriever I would love to see pics , Male or Female, Regestered, AKC, what blood line retriever does the dog belong too?????? I can even come get the dog and I will bring my other 2 labs with me to meet you your dog, What is the name?????Of the dog??????” 5:32:15 PM 1/07/05 “I live in the Mountains of Virginia at the base of MtRogers and White top. No fences and all woods. 115 acres with there own doggy door to come inside my log home. I love dogs and would love to adopt your dog.” 5:35:14 PM 1/07/05 ultradick... “I'm sending you a package filled with my #&%!$. I ate it and vomited it and ate it again and then squirted it into a ziplock baggie. I hope you like it, cause I thought of you the entire time I was making it. You are a peice of human excrement and should be vomited into the toilet and then flushed away. I hope some car jacker decides to shoot you in the head and leave you in your car to die.” 6:25:20 PM 1/07/05 “As Ultra put it, his wife considers the dogs to be on the same level as humans, and in a way they are, because they should be loved, cared for and treated with respect like a person should be treated. If Ultra does not treat his dogs like this, he does not get the benefits of owning a dog, so they are nothing to him. On the other hand, his wife enjoys the companionship, the loyalty and a whole lot of love they give her. If you don't put effort into them, you get nothing back, so their existence can be meaningless to a person like that and just consider themselves to be crapping machines. What's a little poop here or there to throw over into your neighbor's yard when you get so much in return from dogs, lol:)” 10:17:16 PM 1/07/05 “Dang Stikmon been hittin the hoooch again??? LOL” 10:47:48 PM 1/07/05 “i have a black lab/golden retriever mix, and my parents have a golden retriever. They really require a lot of attention. im sure it's not this easy for you, but my advice is find a way to spend more time with your dog. if you're working a lot, can you bring some of your work home? i think your dog would feel better if you were just there, not even necessarily loving on it a bunch. It would be happy just to sleep on the other side of the couch with you while you're working. also, i don't know how long you were married and been out of the dating game, or even if you're ready to get back into it, but remember what Pepper said. dogs are chick magnets, dude. Especially ones that catch frisbees and bring them back. im sure your dog does that. remember things have a way of working themselves out. i wouldn't consider getting rid of your dog unless you truly feel it's the best thing to do. you are right about that being even more depressing to the dog so i think things should be pretty bad before that becomes an option.” 12:37:44 AM 1/08/05 Stikmon “Lighten up Francis, You might want to seek some professional help with that anger management problem you have or join AA if you need help in that regard. I at no time said I hate dogs. At no time did I say I want to see all dogs dead or anything else of that nature. As I said in my original post, my wife and I have two dogs. I would rather have no dogs because I don't feel they are as happy as they could be. I believe a dog shouldn't be cooped up inside a home which both of our dogs are. I'd rather they be with someone that had a farm or that lived in the country so they could run and explore. My wife on the other hand is very attached to the dogs and would never think of letting them go. And she really does treat them like humans, ie she expects them to share like humans and things of that nature. My comment about the dog eating horse shlt, puking it up and then eating it again is just observation from what I seen my dogs do while hiking with me in the Hoosier National Forest. I for one do not want licked in the face after one of these episodes. I get alot of personal attacks at my place of employment. I work for a local Sheriff's Department as a corrections officer so I'll let this one slide as well. Some of you need to get a sense of humor. It makes life alot easier and more enjoyable.” 5:54:59 AM 1/08/05 “Since my your divorce nobody is at home! Thats your doing, not the dogs. You have made it clear to me that you have been neglecting this dog. And to me that is terrible. And I would be mad to if I was a dog. You should get rid of the dog. A divorce is not a reason to make other mistakes. There is another side to this, I would like to hear the dogs side. last edited: 1/08/05 9:08:41 AM” 8:59:06 AM 1/08/05 “IJ - Your problem is exactly why I don't have a dog. I love dogs, but I just will not keep one locked up alone in my house. You might try a cat next. Cats are fairly 'low maintence' pets. My old cat was the most faithful female companion I've ever had. I still miss her and she's been dead for several years. I'm about ready to try again, but I think I will get two from the shelter so they can keep themselves company while I'm gone. Try not to let some of the TT a$$holes get you down. Dog threads seem to be a magnet for them. last edited: 1/08/05 10:49:02 AM” 10:43:15 AM 1/08/05 “Man I feel for ya John. Goldens are such social animals. I’m lucky because my wife leaves for work at 630am and I get home at 830am. One thing I do when she’s going to be alone for long is turn on a radio, tv or something like that. If you do go the companion pet way how about a cat? They are very self sufficient, take little care and can be very lovable. We have a cat and a Golden Honeydog and they love each other a lot. They sleep together and play.” 11:09:46 AM 1/08/05 “Dang, Nigal must have me on ignore. ;-)” 11:15:42 AM 1/08/05 “Who said that? LOL! No I didn't make it through the whole thread. I'm a few days behind on TT so I skim a lot. BTW SS, shouldn't this be under feugo? LOL!” 11:40:51 AM 1/08/05 “LOL, I say I love dogs, but right now I would sure like to shoot my neighbor's little barking machine. ;-) Damn dog is kept locked up in the back yard and the poor dog barks ever time the wind blows a bush and keeps on barking and barking and barking. If I walk into my own back yard he goes into overdrive! CRAP!” 11:40:54 AM 1/08/05 “LOL Yea Nigal, you are correct. All 'Dog' threads should be Fuego! ;-)” 11:43:37 AM 1/08/05 “UP, youve just been trolled by the ultimate non-anonymous trollster, stikmon.” 11:47:33 AM 1/08/05 ““LOL, I say I love dogs, but right now I would sure like to shoot my neighbor's little barking machine. ;-) Damn dog is kept locked up in the back yard and the poor dog barks ever time the wind blows a bush and keeps on barking and barking and barking. If I walk into my own back yard he goes into overdrive! CRAP!” I feel your pain. My neighbor is one of those people who is too stupid to own dogs because she doesn’t know how to properly train them. Every spring she gets a new dog and then by winter she gets rid of the dog because it digs in her flower beds and I call the police her because she throws them in the back yard to bark and bark and bark… I couldn’t be in my own yard without the dog going nuts and barking the whole time. That is bullchit. She now has a golden. Sense the dog is smarter than her I’m hoping he trains her. But you probably don’t wanna call the cops on your neighbor. My neighbor is a bltch though.” 11:52:31 AM 1/08/05 ““My wife and I have two dogs. If it were up to me we would have none. She is an animal nut and I'am not. She puts them on the same level as humans. If she were driving down the road and a dog ran out in front of her she would steer into a group of school children on the sidewalk, run them down and as the vehicle came to a stop ask if she hit the dog or not.” While I’m the opposite from you on this but I found this funny as hell. LOL! My wife and I are childless by choice so I think a lot of the time we project a parent’s love on the dog and the cat. I don’t hold them on the same level as humans but I do love them dearly. When my cat of 16 years died my wife’s pastor (no lover of cats) made a flippant comment and I told him, “Ya know, I had that cat longer than you’ve had your children so please shut up.”. last edited: 1/08/05 12:05:17 PM” 11:59:47 AM 1/08/05 “My cat was the most faithful loving female companion I have had. ;-)” 12:03:28 PM 1/08/05 “Did you see this? This lady in Texas paid $50,000 to have her dead cat cloned. The thing looks exactly like the old one and even displays the same mannerisms. Freaky! http://money.cnn.com/2004/12/23/news/newsmakers/cloned_cat/” 12:07:46 PM 1/08/05 “I do believe this woman was taken in by these cloning people. By cloning your cat, you are not guaranteed anything, but a cat. It will not necesarily have your old cats charactor or color. They probably just found a kitten with the same coloring for her. Nigal, I didn't see anything in the article saying the new cat had the same mannerisms, and what would they be anyway, like the cat sleeps all day or meows, lol.” 2:15:08 PM 1/08/05 “The fact the cat has it's own mannerisms was from another article I read. The kitten would run up the lady's arm while she was on the couch and then snuggle up on her neck just like the old one would. Believe it or not, cats do have depth of personality and do not just eat sleep and meow.” 8:32:57 AM 1/09/05 “I had a Mexican Hairless show up on my porch the other day. It's half the size of my cats. It (sort of) belonged to one neighbor (who just rescued it; it'd been abandoned) who unfortunately then moved into a place where no pets are allowed. Now another neibor has it. It's new name? R.D., for "Rat Dog." So ugly it's cute. Sort of. At least it's well mannered.” 10:53:04 AM 1/09/05 “So IJ, how's it going with the pooch?” 11:18:45 AM 1/11/05 “Thanks for asking Dhutch, Hes better. I took him to the Vet and turns out his licking and lack of appetite was not all a nervous thing, he had a bad skin allergy. We've swithced his food and he's on an antibiotic. this has almost stopped the problem. He's also much happier as I've been home a lot more and I had my daughter for the last four days. She's 14 months and was rolling all over on his belly the other day...so cute! I gave him the old hat like suggested and he had it in his mouth when I got home the other night. I guess maybe I didn't provide enough info when I said I had a problem. I'm not abandoning my dog. Its just a tumultuous time right now. My ex-wife used to be home all day with my daughter so things have changed in that regard. I've been busy lately but this isn't an everyday thing nor is it permanent. I love my dog and we take regular walks, brush his hair, keep him groomed, work on commands, wrestle in the living room..LOL! He also goes on dayhikes with me when I have time. Also, my brother in law, whos been letting him out and feeding him when I'm gone is 17 and usually stays and plays with him for awhile. I understand that dogs, especially inside dogs need alot of attention. But like I said before, If I feel he's not going to be happy, I'll let him go to a better home.” 11:31:33 AM 1/11/05 “Animals need adjustment periods too. I'm sure it has been a major life change for him as well as your family. Plus, I'd be depressed if my skin was allergic too. :-) Glad to hear he's better!” 12:04:10 PM 1/11/05 “Anyone near Philly interested in having a dog? (Not mine.) AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIOR...THIS IS A BIG DOG BUT VERY LOVABLE. 3 YEARS OLD NEEDS A BIG YARD AND I DONT RECOMEND SMALL CHILDREN. NEED A LOVING FAMILY !!! HAVE TO GIVE HER AWAY DUE TO TOO MUCH TRAVELING WITH WORK. FEMALE NUTERED HOUSE BROKEN NEEDS A GOOD HOME !!!!!!” 1:22:42 PM 2/09/05 “How does one "nuter" a dog?” 1:23:56 PM 2/09/05 “Hi Fritz! Good to see you posting!” 1:24:52 PM 2/09/05 “I got a video on the procedure Bit, I will send it to ya. Fun for the whole family Seriously, I would love another dog but I got something else on the way.” 1:26:35 PM 2/09/05 “You shold prolly get a truk so she can ride ever wher to. That is what me and my hubsand Gissmaeiuox dose. We ride ever wher with ower daddy in the truk. BWT - Dose she got a stinky butt? (you know'd I wold aks!)” 1:27:00 PM 2/09/05 “Yay, Sarabelle! Glad to hear from you!” 1:29:19 PM 2/09/05 “Haven't heard from her in awhile. How's it going?” 1:30:12 PM 2/09/05 “bit - an even better question is "how do you neuter a female dog?" SS - thank you. Extremely busy 6 weeks at work and in my moving/getting divorced saga. This message was posted several times on my local freecycle.org list. I just passed it along here because I know there are many dog lovers.” 1:35:14 PM 2/09/05 “Aaaaw :-(” 2:00:39 PM 2/09/05 “Hi Fritz, I'm sorry to hear about your situation all around, dog, wife, etc. I hope I can be of some help. Some states have rescue organizations that are just for individual pure breeds. You can try doing a search for a rescue org. for Staffordshire Terriors. Someone may be able to place your dog into a in a permanent home or they may want to put the dog in a foster home first to evaluate the dog for it's personality (temperment), housebreaking etc. even though you can give them the information yourself. They may want to have the dog checked by a vet also and this would all be at no cost to yourself, although I'm sure they wouldn't mind a small donation. The Chihuahua rescue (I have a Chihuahua) for the U.S. really works hard to find the best "forever" homes, so the dog does not return to the rescue again. Sometimes the foster homes already own the same type of dog or a dog of equivalent size, so the foster dogs go to good foster homes. Your dog being "fixed" and housebroken will really help to place her in a home sooner than later, especially since she is not a mixed terrier. Some people looking for pure bred dogs in rescues like to take the ones first that most represent the breed.” 2:46:29 PM 2/09/05 “http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=staffordshire+%2Bterrier+%2Brescue+%2BPA I did a search with google like this: staffordshire +terrior +rescues +PA and came up with the above link. The link for Stafforshires led to the rescue for pit bulls, so they may handle both kinds of dogs. I may have to take back what I said about foster homes to an extent. For chihuahuas, there is no bldg associated with the rescue organization. They go right into foster homes in each state through a network of people that are willing to take in rescues, but that may not be the case with your breed of dog. The dog may be in a kennel situation until it's adopted, but you can ask about that. Now the chi rescue is a non kill rescue, but you may want to ask if that is the case for the Staffordshire rescue.” 2:56:26 PM 2/09/05 “"Does your dog bite?" "No." (Man pets dog, dog bites man.) "I thought you said your dog does not bite." "That's not my dog." LH, thank you so much for the info, but....it isn't my dog. Sorry I wasn't more clear about that. I have seen this dog posted to an email group several times and I was just passing it along here in case anyone was interested. Now, if you could find an ex-wife rescue.... :)” 3:30:25 PM 2/09/05 “Fritz, before anyone rescues her, does your ex-wife bite, lol? About the dog, you can post the info I sent you to the e-mail group. I never knew there were purebred non kill rescues and this person probably does not know this either.” 3:37:47 PM 2/09/05 does my "ex-wife" bite? “ 3:45:01 PM 2/09/05 “Fritz, well that's very nice for your to say about your wife considering you are getting divorced.” 3:55:48 PM 2/09/05 “LH, I assume you noted the sarcasm in my post. But seriously...I do wish her all the best, health, happiness... The decision to end the marriage was based on the conclusion that there was absolutely no chance that either of us would ever be happy as long as we were together.” 8:00:53 AM 2/10/05
