LOL.

A fringe element cuts its own alcohol stoves from empty cat-food cans...

That is fringe! Cat food cans, yech!

I haven't seen it, but I'm sure it can't be too long.

Interesting write-up. My worry with that new micro-pore system is that it would get clogged up (and no way to clear it) in the middle of nowhere due to dirty fuel.

And I'll add, that is one of the advantages of a Pepsi or cat-food can. Nothing to clog, leak, or break.

Why is the stove industry so driven by speed? “You mean I have to wait for five minutes to boil water? Not fast enough! I gotta get dinner done toot-sweet because I have to…well…and then I have to…um…sit around camp.”

I hate it when companies take something of the utmost simplicity and make it into some great new sellable thing. It’s like taking a stick and calling it a Natural Multi Purpose Leverage Device.

Do you mean that you don't carry your lightweight NLMD with you Nigal? It's the latest thing and everyone needs one. ;-)

Damn! Once again I find myself behind the gear 8-ball again! I thought when I got a ULA P-2 pack I'd be one of the cool kids but now I'm a loser again! DAMN!

Nigal, I have to aruge that very thing when non-lightweight hiking friends snicker at my Pepsi stove. When I'm in the woods I'm getting away from the time pressures of real life. Who the heck cares if it takes an extra 5 mins. to make dinner??? Five more to enjoy the scenery!

Cooking time is unwind time. I wonder when someone will make a microwave for the trail?

OOOOoooo Geek Speek!
"Dubbed a capillary-force vaporizer by developer Vapore Inc. of Richmond, Calif., the tablet-size device at the stove's heart merges a high-porosity ceramic element with a heat-conducting orifice disc and an insulating capillary wick."

Get away from my Trangia.

LOL! That's like when you see the phrase, "Ultra-conversional Audio System" on a $20 GPX home sterio.

I have a friend that bought one of these stoves back in May and we used it on a trip later that month. It's really fast like a few seconds and you have hot boiling water..pretty amazing... I think they paid 80.00 for their stove.

I wonder if you could burn alcohol in it instead of white gas? LOLOLOL!

skullie, I was seriously thinking the same thing. White gas in inconvenient for travel, I wonder if it would increase the burn heat of alcohol vs pepsi stove.
