I have two questions:

First, does anybody know whether any old SD card will work in the Meridian, or do you have to use Magellan cards? Magellan makes a 64 MB card, but you can get up to 256 MB cards.

Second, is it possible to delete a map you download to a card in the Meridian?

Hell, you can get 1GB SD cards. I just bought a Palm Zire 31, and I'm looking at getting an SD card for it too. Palm sells a 256, but for what they want for it, I could almost get a 1GB card. I'm trying to figure out now if the Zire will support a card that large, but the info is hard to come by.

I imagine any old SD card will work, but the question is will your Meridian address that much memory?

It's a heck of a price to pay and find out it doesn't, that's why I'm asking the question.

Here's a page with some answers for you.

To summarize, apparently to use a 128MB card, you must download a new version of the Magellan software to your Meridian, but it will apparently work fine after that.

Thanks bit. That answers the first question.

Here's a Meridian FAQ file I found

I didn't read the whole thing, so I don't know if it has the answer to your question or not.

I wouldn't see why not. Have you checked out the boards at Palm.com? They were always able to give me the answers I needed. the only question I couldn't get an answer to is why Palms suck donkey balls. LOL! I've got 2 m130s that are sitting on the shelf collecting dust because they both died within 6 months of being bought and the warranty was too short to cover the service that at their prices will be more than they cost in the first place.

I want a Sony Cloe` now. Just can't affrod it right now.

I wouldn't see why not either, but it depends on the filesystem that Palm OS is using. The interface may have no problem recognizing the card, but the filesystem may have some sort of addressing limit.

I'll try those boards, thanks!

Oh, and don't try to be funny over there either. I had a gif of Bart Simpson mooning you as my sig and they told me to chage it or I'd be banned. Bunch of humorless geeks over there.

One thing about cards I do remember is the bigger SanDisk cards were hit or miss.

Damn, and I just posted your question about Palms and donkey balls with an animated gif of a PDA under a donkey, well, you know...

Okey Dokey, I ordered that cheapo
SD card from amazon.com, along with the latest Gordon Lightfoot album. At that price there's no point in not ordering. There's also a $15 mail-in rebate, making the card price $11 and change.

Hey Nigal

Damn! I guess I'll go for a Compaq then. Those are pretty cool. They even run Windows OS. I was just wanting to have a pda that uses the memory sticks.
