Did a few loops (okay, only two) around the park (those hills are beasts!)and then took to the skewwwrryy streets. It was good :) How's everyone elses Sunday going?” 4:13:59 PM 8/22/04 “30 miles, 2.5 hours. :D all before 1000. great morning ride temps in the low to mid 70's, the high desert in its full glory. Rode to my Grandparents old neighborhood in the Manzano foothills. Now at work :(” 4:21:31 PM 8/22/04 “sounds nice mr show off ;)” 5:05:34 PM 8/22/04 “You asked!” 5:46:02 PM 8/22/04 “I bet riding that bike helmet was a royal pain. Why don't you get a bike to ride ;)” 6:04:23 PM 8/22/04 “hehe” 7:57:18 PM 8/22/04 8:00:25 PM 8/22/04 “thanks but I like mine ;)” 8:05:06 PM 8/22/04 “Two laps yesturday evening, no stopping this time on the big hill. Wanted to go for a third but it was getting too dark. Need to get reflectors....” 11:11:53 AM 8/25/04 “get a flashing red strobe. bike shops have them, not that expensive and much better than reflector.” 11:42:54 AM 8/25/04 “I concur, flashing red strobe. You should be able to pick one up for a coupla bucks. REI sells a bike light kit so you have a headlight too. If you're not doing any technical riding and mostly just want to be seen you should be able to spend in the $20 range. Try Nashbar.com there's also Performance Cycle or Supergo.” 11:50:45 AM 8/25/04 For Headlamp.. “Niterider Digital rules!” 11:58:32 AM 8/25/04 “Thanks Don't really need a headlamp just yet. Will get the flashers - saw a few folk with them last night Also thinking of putting reflector tape of my helmet and bike body think i may also like to change handle bars - I want the curvy kind you can bend down on to improve aerodynamics” 12:30:47 PM 8/25/04 “Hey! My wife's in the Terry Catalogue (Women's Cycling gear and apparel)! They came out there to do a photoshoot for the fall catalogue and got the cycling club women to model for them. They started a women's racing team here and they got Terry to be a sponsor. Anyway, here it is...” 12:32:51 PM 8/25/04 “wow!” 12:38:12 PM 8/25/04 “The print one's coming out in September. i don't think they have any more of their team on the web. She got a whole bunch of cool gear and clothes for doing it.” 12:41:24 PM 8/25/04 “wow, that is super-cool, Aero! free gear & clothes, sounds like a good deal to me!” 12:56:12 PM 8/25/04 “She had to sell her soul to Satan, but what-the-hey!” 1:31:53 PM 8/25/04 “dat's funny . . . .she doesn't LOOK like newgirl! What did you do with newgirl, aero? PS: you wife looks great.” 1:33:15 PM 8/25/04 “I don't know what became of newgirl- honest! I'll have to see if I can round her up! She was living about a mile away at a relative's house. I'll pass that on to my wife- she thinks she takes lousy photos.” 1:37:51 PM 8/25/04 Weekend Rides in California “Did a couple relaxing California style bike rides last Thanksgiving weekend. Perfect weather conditions as always. After looking at these pictures, a fellow cyclist told me I should be put in a white jacket with lots of straps and buckles. Not exactly sure what he meant by that. Let me know if you all agree! Maybe I do have a problem. :-0 Pictures: http://community.webshots.com/album/224311889NubUGs” 5:03:48 AM 12/03/04 “Chased home by a funnel cloud! That'll pick up your pace. Beat the storm by about 10 minutes. Heading this way.” 5:08:56 PM 4/16/05 “just got back from my first 25 miler for the year. Nothin like the hills of Eastern Pa to build charactor where you are lacking!” 8:01:33 PM 5/10/05 “ ”3:41:10 PM 5/11/05 “The butt on the left is kind of scary!” 3:44:28 PM 5/11/05 “I like the woman with the "drill bush not oil" painted on her back . . . How . . .. appropriate . .” 3:47:10 PM 5/11/05 “looks like someone could have photoshopped that in after-the-fact...” 3:48:46 PM 5/11/05 “Time to ride! Wheel in the shop, too much work and life. Haven't ridden since Tues. I'm going to start this in reverse. I'll certainly do the La Luz Trailhead, Tram Terminal and Elena Gallegos, but will decide based on time and how I feel after that. Need two hours. ![]() last edited: 7/23/05 1:27:56 PM” 1:23:04 PM 7/23/05 “ La Luz Trailhead, Tram Terminal and Elena Gallegos Got those three climbs in, 25 miles, 2.5 hours. Max speed 44mph. surface temp for 88-102F, depending on cloud cover.” 4:47:58 PM 7/23/05 “I dusted off the bike today and took it out for a 19.3 mile ride with 1,740 feet of gain. I really like playing with the topo software to see how much elevation gain - it helps a lot with planning. I've got another loop planned out. About 21 miles with 2,700 feet of gain. It's all uphill one for the first half and all downhill for the second half. It might take me a bit of time to build up to this one, but I can just keep going up the hill as far as I can until I finally make it all the way.” 7:58:00 PM 7/23/05 “pathman - 44 mph is really fast - I've never gone that fast on a bike.” 9:25:11 AM 7/24/05 “I don't think I have either, wingding.” 9:26:50 AM 7/24/05 “did a spinning class this morning - a butt kicker” 3:34:51 PM 7/24/05 “I like playing with topo too, wingding. Here is that ride the way I did it. I am missing too many of my long weekend rides. need to get on the road early, before the days demands interfere and the thunderstorms pick up. Bike is again in good working order. My training log sounds like a bag of excuses. :D” 11:27:32 PM 7/25/05 “Anyone know of bike paths from Brooklyn to Fire Island? My friends and I want to bike out this weekend...” 8:34:28 AM 7/26/05 “10 mile easy ride after work yesterday and another tough spinning class tonight. I took my bike into the shop today and they're going to put on Shimano PD-R540 Pedals (Road Pedals), so no more toe clips.” 10:40:20 PM 7/26/05 “gonna drop of my newly painted frame and bike to be rebuilt at a good friends house...cant wait to ride again.” 5:55:51 AM 7/27/05 twinkle toes 7:51:44 AM 7/27/05 “Thanks Pathman. I've just recently started riding my bike again. So far I've done two 20-25 mile day trips and a couple times doing laps in the local park. The local park has a butt-kicking hill and I'm happy to say the hill is getting better (mostly due to the fact that I've learned how to use the gears to my benefit!). I have two goals I want to achieve: 1) bike out to Montauk, camp and explore for a few days, and then bike back to the city 2) do the New York - Boston AIDS ride with my friends.” 8:12:48 AM 7/27/05 “I've been using cycling to keep in shape for hiking and backpacking, but once the snow comes again in the Sierra this winter I'll reverse the focus and cycle more than I hike. I want to do some riding out in the desert over the winter - I'm especially looking forward to taking my bike to Death Valley.” 12:34:32 PM 7/27/05 “Did 150 miles last weekend in the heat ugh!raised some serious cash for leukemia society so it was all good” 12:43:11 PM 7/27/05 “good deal spalpeen. I'm in the LAF Peleton Project, heading for the Ride for the Roses to do a century. Pathman's Peleton Project BTW, what is a spalpeen????” 2:38:26 PM 7/27/05 “Scotch-Erse for a rogue, wanderer” 2:42:09 PM 7/27/05 “heh, heh. No rogues around here. ;-D” 3:00:58 PM 7/27/05 Twinkle “You'll know that you are on the right bike path to Fire Island by watching the men's bikes. When you start to notice bikes with no seats, just posts, you are probably headed in the right direction.” 3:14:10 PM 7/27/05 “that's terrible lee” 8:18:02 PM 7/27/05 “lee had to prove me wrong about the rogues.” 7:32:25 AM 7/28/05 “but i did laugh” 8:37:29 AM 7/28/05 “Did about 8-9 miles yesterday after work before heading home. First time in any kind of hills since forever. I was standing up about 3/4 of the time in my 2nd lowest gear! Looks like sea level to about 650' over 3 miles. Then it was a little scary coming down - I remember now that it takes a while to get comfortable on those downhills - yikes!” 9:29:07 AM 7/28/05 “I am training for the MS150 (two days, 75 miles each, for multiple sclerosis) the third weekend of September. I only have a mountain bike. May have to buy myself a road bike. (That would just break my heart.)” 9:37:04 AM 7/28/05
