Failing that, the waitress will come around and try to sell you one.” 4:58:13 PM 9/27/04 “Can I bring an extra pair of boxers & pants?” 4:59:07 PM 9/27/04 “You can bring whatever you want; just promise me you won't tell me about it.” 5:08:21 PM 9/27/04 “You expect me to keep my mouth shut while drinking and with a stripper in my lap? How am i going to drink?” 5:12:02 PM 9/27/04 “thongs wtf u guys are goin to the wrong clubs!!! Back home full nude and they will go a little further for a few bucks!!! When she finished the lap dance i was happy !! She was a freak 18 and still in high school i was like #&%!$!!!” 12:02:22 AM 9/28/04 “place we went a few weeks back is what youd like then...im too cheap for a strip club...i dont tip...i just keep moving around the stage...wherever i can get closest without tippin....” 3:47:48 AM 9/28/04 “Techntrrek if you blow 4 straingtht paychecks to get a VIP pass you could just file for bankurupcty again.” 7:34:50 AM 9/28/04 Bales “Too bad you never have had an 800+ credit score like I had. I bet you still blow all your paychecks at strip joints. I remain much more responsible than that. Maybe you can learn from me.” 9:15:57 AM 9/28/04 bearmagnet “Well, you'll only be drinking soda pop, because this particular place is a juice bar. They can't do the complete nekkidness thing where alcohol is served. I've heard that there's another club that has full contact hot-tup dances; haven't been there though. Hey, how did this go from "you owe me money" to "where's a good strip club?" Damn you Phil, you can hijack any subject. ;)” 12:09:54 PM 9/28/04 “Hate Juice bars! I have many mentors on TT that taught me the fine art of Hijacking/degeneration.” 12:15:10 PM 9/28/04 Br0k3n_l1z4rd “Check received and cleared, all is forgiven.” 10:02:32 AM 10/08/04 spoke too soon “Bank bounced it today. Forget paying, this nonsense has already cost me more than the pack was worth.” 8:40:54 AM 10/13/04 “D'oh! lol.” 8:46:05 AM 10/13/04 “First rule of eBay. Never send item until full payment is received and cleared!” 9:06:52 AM 10/13/04 “Dub, this wasn't on eBay. It was one TTer to another.” 9:08:02 AM 10/13/04 “First rule of buying by net - only accept Paypal or money order. (ignoring that Paypal is having major network issues right now)” 9:10:40 AM 10/13/04 “Yes I know, but the rules apply to other online transactions as well. I haven't met broken lizard and I don't think anyone else has either. There would be a few TTers I would trust for a ship before payment transaction, mostly people I have backpacked with more than once. Definately no stranger.” 9:10:50 AM 10/13/04 “So LiRM35 was to trusting, and did a good thing, and was punished for it. I've learned that people that can't trust others, can't be trusted themselves. Sorry you had to go thru this LiRM35. You sound like someone I would hike with anytime. As for Dan, the broken lizard, everyone now knows he's a deadbeat and should act in accord with that. LiRM35 - Do us all a big favor and give us his real name and town so we will not sell to him in the future.” 9:27:53 AM 10/13/04 “Damn that is just wrong :( Sorry you have to lose out like that LiRM35.” 9:30:03 AM 10/13/04 “I think Broken Lizard should reimburse you for the bounced check fees in the form of a certified check or Paypal.... That's not right at all to take advantage of someone's trusting nature. :-(” 9:33:11 AM 10/13/04 “I've learned that people that can't trust others, can't be trusted themselves. That's total BS! Why should you trust someone you know nothing about? Especially when it involves a business transaction on something that costs a lot. Six months ago when I was in college $60 for a pack was nearly 10% of my monthly income. If someone sent me a check and it bounced ($29, 5% of income) then I would be pretty screwed as I counted every dollar and lived in debt--debt which I am still paying for six months later and will continue to pay for another two years. I can understand maybe trusting someone like you, but first I'd ask for a personal recommendation from someone I trust who's met you...someone like Divinity. But a total stranger...nope...not gonna trust them and I'm not a bad person because of it. Would you send bales a backpack without any money? How about Ministercreek?” 9:36:00 AM 10/13/04 “The jerk could have gone to the PO and put a Money Order in easy. He knew his checks were squirely. DEADBEAT” 9:36:37 AM 10/13/04 “OH mY LOrd ,Lirm 35 ,thats is too so very bad but to be expected rform some an other Personage who sis suckoling at His Sisters Teat .In canse oany of You soma nan other Personages have forget ,b4r000334532n l1!!3344345654rd is the Personage whose was going to waste Money on a tatoo .His Personage should be to pay LIrm35 First before He gets a tattoo.” 9:38:21 AM 10/13/04 “No kidding--a certified check or Money Order would have been easy to do and not cost more than a few dollars extra!” 9:40:13 AM 10/13/04 “I've learned that people that can't trust others, can't be trusted themselves Dub - that wasn't directed to you. As to being BS, I disagree. Honest people feel others can be honest also. People that can not trust others to do the right thing generally feel that way because they know they themselves will not do the right thing. I'll learned this from many years of dealing with people.” 9:40:43 AM 10/13/04 “very bad business. I would'nt of trusted broken lizzard at all, just by the way he posts...seems like he's imature and unreliable in the worst ways.” 9:41:44 AM 10/13/04 “GGGGS Not always true. Honest people who have been burned learn not to blindly trust either :P” 9:42:52 AM 10/13/04 “I tend to leap for the worst possible conclusion myself, but there are such things as math errors. Maybe he'll make it right (maybe he won't).” 9:42:56 AM 10/13/04 “I didn't say 'blindly trust'. Generally I will trust someone till they give me reason to not.” 9:46:35 AM 10/13/04 “Sadly, you are right Gopher-- Honest people usually feel that others are trustworthy, but are shocked when their trusts are violated. After that they tend to be less inclined to trust others. Unfortunately, the way many younger people have been brought up (without a sense of responsibility) and the way the media portrays our society today (the only people shown are "deadbeats"), it's hard for others to be as trusting any more.... Generally, I personally like to give people a chance to prove themselves before automatically assuming that they are "bad". However, in the case of a financial transaction, you should always err to caution....” 9:48:21 AM 10/13/04 “Not always true. Honest people who have been burned learn not to blindly trust either :P” Spirit Coyote Exactly. I've done a LOT of business on eBay. I managed online sales for a small construction company here in Columbus and as well as my own personal sales. I've met a lot of deadbeats online and I've been burned a few times myself. So unless I already trust someone then I would never send something without payment first. For me someone has to earn my trust and when they lose it...it's a long time to get it back. We are jumping the gun a little though. I have roommates that are terrible with money and it could have been an accident. Give him a second chance to pay with certified funds and if he doesn't fess up, give us his name and address so no one else falls victim.” 9:52:29 AM 10/13/04 “Also make him pay for the bounced check fees...that's what I do.” 9:53:34 AM 10/13/04 “Pink - I'm not so sure about that age thing. It seems that the people doing the real damage are middle aged and older, CEO's, CFO's, Enron, Haliburton, Politicians, etc. Somehow I don't envision Broken Lizard ever getting to the point where he can do damage on a macro scale. It is interesting to me, though, that a young guy knocking off a 7-11 will do significantly more hard time than any white collar jerk.” 9:55:44 AM 10/13/04 “LOL, I was about to add that Dub. But clearly, LiRM35 is fed up, understandably. Lizard boy had his 'chance' to make it good.” 9:57:06 AM 10/13/04 “I do agree that Dub that BL should be given a chance to remedy the situation.... I remember being a college student and not always balancing my checkbook properly... back then, you had the benefit of the "float" where there was a few days gap between writing the check and having it posted to your account, but if you mis-calculated, it didn't always work.... (those days apparently are gone due to the new checking systems!)” 9:57:30 AM 10/13/04 “He who lives by the float dies bythe float.” 9:59:42 AM 10/13/04 “Man, that bites. Sorry to hear LiRM35. I hope BrokenLizard makes it right, including any fees you may have incurred along the way. I usually trust people until they give me a reason not to trust them.” 10:04:28 AM 10/13/04 “Snake-- That's probably most of the problem. If the "older" generation doesn't set a good example for the "younger" generations... then guess what the role models look like? And, of course, "money talks", so the older white collar crime guy "walks". (c'mon, look at where Martha Stewart is going--I don't see her staying at a prison where she's in a little cell...) And, how many times do you see a news story about the good people who are honest and trusting? Unfortunately, our society is fascinated with the "bad apples" (it makes for good ratings.) One thing that WAS interesting was that I had heard when they did the first "Big Brother" house, that the audience voted off the "bad" people first and left the "good" people.... But the networks didn't think that was spicy enough to get good ratings, they wanted to shake things up more and cause more animosity within the people in the house.... last edited: 10/13/04 10:08:30 AM” 10:07:51 AM 10/13/04 “I don't necessarily think Br0k3n_liz4rd is a deadbeat, or a bad person, or that he set out to rip me off. We agreed on a partial payment by certified check up front, and that's what I got. As for the rest, I just think he's young and has some cashflow problems. Been there, and not so long ago myself. But at this point, I think it's time to cut the poor kid some slack, and cut my own losses. Not to say that I won't demand full payment up front in the future, even from fellow bper's. Chalk it up to experience; lesson learned.” 10:16:48 AM 10/13/04 “Gosh, I wish you were my credit card company!” 10:18:30 AM 10/13/04 “So which one of you goobs would trust me sending me something before I paid? ;)” 10:19:16 AM 10/13/04 “Hey, I wish I was my credit card company!” 10:20:53 AM 10/13/04 “De, I would trust ya :D” 10:21:53 AM 10/13/04 DDX “I would, and we have never met in person. Of course I know most of the online forums you post on and I could allways trash you on them if you didn't pay, LOL. ....and I could tell the folks on backpacking.net you a really a girl. ;-) last edited: 10/13/04 10:26:36 AM” 10:22:29 AM 10/13/04 Scary Folks Out There “I once had a simular problem. I bid and won a large Kelty family dome tent on EBAY. It was supposed to be a display at some expo. I bid less than half retail price and won. Wooopeee! The next day I get an email saying that the shipment will be delayed a few days. I emailed back and said no big deal. Payed with Paypal and waited for it to arrive. A week later I get a letter in the mail, hand printed, saying that the tent is no longer available and they cannot refund me for at least a month. I was like WTF! The letter also said we are not crooks we are Christian people going through hard times. Included were several religious tracts, I was like what is this crap! I emailed the people and the email came back no address found. Contacted EBAY and Paypal to report fraud. I had to fill out a detailed complaint form and wait 3 weeks before my account was cleared. Meanwhile I got the bill for the tent on my credit card. I was so damned pissed I have quit EBAY all together. I haven't missed it one bit. As for you Broken Lizard, pay your debts! You are cheating LiRM35 as well as yourself. We have entertained your posts here at Trail Talk and were even hoping you would show up for part of the Pecos Wilderness trip. There are good people here and you stand to lose a lot more in your pride than a few bucks. You will be a scoundrel and no one will ever trust you again.” 10:23:01 AM 10/13/04 “It fuigures that a bunch of relihjous spanks cwoould try to pull a scam like that.” 10:31:57 AM 10/13/04 Stove... “You don't know what golf forum I post on! ;)” 10:32:11 AM 10/13/04
