Besides, if ya send me a check and it bounces, not only do I have your full name, address but I also have your account number form the check. Do you have any idea what kind of havoc you can spread with this info? If someone screwed me over and sent me a rubber check I guarantee within one month’s time they would be begging and pleading me to let them send me the cash plus some just to get me to leave them alone and quit screwing them over with their personal info. This is also why I don't pay with checks when I buy stuff. heehee!

You really need to be careful in the future. I do not know what kind of laws exist in your state about writing bad checks but here in Illinois, you can serve jail time as well as a hefty fine. If you want to roll the dice and press your luck with this, it is your call. I hope you have at least contacted Lirm35 to apologize.

Stovey - I went over the thread but the only private communication alluded to involved emailing each other over the purchase. The initial communication about not getting paid seems to have been posted on the thread (public). Maybe I missed something...maybe you did. Either way it's Lim35's call to go private or public. If my motive was to get the money back I'd opt for private. If I wanted to humiliate someone without knowing what may or may not be going on behind the scene, I'd go public. My comment about the piling on still stands. It's not the first time I've seen it here and not likely the last.

I'm not even speculating on why the check bounced, but if there was a good reason and you all just trashed him, how would you make that right? Would you even care?”

“For the record, I feel pretty much as you do: I thought long and hard over whether to go public in the first place. Once he claimed "the check's in the mail" (right after labor day), and stopped answering my emails, I decided to go public (three weeks oafter the original sale). Maybe I was wrong. I certainly didn't expect the thrashing that's come about, though I do think it's fair to warn others to beware (and of whom) before they sell stuff online, even to other members of a friendly forum such as this.”

“I recently got had on ebay and have made an effort to let everyone know not to buy form the loser. It worked, I have certifed check on the way...allegedly. Really negative feed back can work.

Regarding this situation I think going public is apporpriate in this forum. When someone here screws someone else its good to err it out. Peer pressure is an effective tool.”
