I was excited and nurvous. I lugged the big pack on...my excitement wavered only a little as I felt how heavy it was. As I followed my friends along the path I hadnt realized we would be going up and down so many damn hills. I didnt think the sun would beat down so hot or that I could sweat so much so quickly. Before long I was way behind and my friends had to keep stopping and waiting for me. They were ok with it though since it was my first time out. The views were spectacular. The ocean looked kind of busy that day and we could see sealions when we were on the cliffs over looking the water. I was glad to make camp though. I shared a tent with one of my friends and he tried showing me how to set it up. Not as hard as I had imagined it to be.I put bandaids on my blisters (damn those suckers hurt) and just napped and relaxed in camp. There were some wildflowers..i think Matt called them lupins, blooming. I did get to see some gopher snakes but no rattlers which I was hoping to see. The guys tried to scare me with bear stories but I was ok. I slept like a log, the temps were perfect.”
