Argh
Drove up to Maine to hike in Baxter State Park with my buddy who was already up there a week ahead of me in Bar Harbor (near Acadia NP). Trip up from New Jersey was excrutiatingly long - never drove for that sort of distance before in my life, don't want to do it again alone.

On my way up, my cell phone service died and I ended up getting near Bar Harbor very late, tried calling my friend from a pay phone which did not work. Tried again from another pay phone which did not work (both would not accept coins). Somewhere in between all this and me freaking out at 1 in the morning and Verizon not being able to charge a collect call to my debit/credit card because I like everyone else have a Visa card (accept only AMEX and Mastercard) had $200 stolen from me.

Yes, someone took literally all my money out of my car. Normally I'm very careful and I always carry my wallet with me. I rarely wear shorts, I happened to be that day, no pockets, so I kept the money in the caddy between the front two seats. The car was never out of my site... I never saw the person.

Anyway, found someone eventually who let me use their cell, called up my friend, went over to his place, relaxed and calmed down, next day went to BSP very late, got the last camp site on the Appalachian trail (didn't know wha to expect.. didn't realize this was going to be essentially car camping). Next day did Katadhin, day after Canoed at Daicey pond and went home, arrived yesterday.

Was going to stay until the 25th, but without funding.. couldn't! Thanks for ruining my first real break in a very very long time thief.

Argh...

Katadhin was great though... met two thru hikers (it's pretty obvious when you see one) one from Minnesota and one from Oklahoma, they weren't travelling together but happened to summit the same day and meet each other at the top.
