Yes Scorchy, seriously. That's what happens when you get old, your old highschool sports injuries come back to bite you in the butt. In this case, literaly. LOL!

I wish!
I have pretty bad vision...I can see maybe 3 ft in front of me! I also cannot wear contacts (waahhh!!!!) due to my eyes odd shape.
So when I pack, I am wearing my glasses, and in a hard case (yes, you read that right), my prescription sunglasses. I cannot hike without glasses, so I hump the weight.
Yes it bites. Dang parents and bad vision genes!

Sarbar1, eat more liver....hear they have alot of vitamin A...which is good for your vision.

I use contacts. Not because I am an addict though.....(though I do show many of the classic symptoms) no, it is because out east here when you get to elevation your glasses fog up. I would end up walking without after a while.

I never knew that they didn't have that problem out in the west where it is less humid. I was very surprised at how dry the climite was in Wyoming.

I am not a candidate for laser vision, but I saw some new light frames yesterday that have shades you clip using small magnetic pads. They rock. I may get some. The optician said they would make me look younger too!!

However, my wife had Lasik eye surgery on Monday. She went from 20/200 to 20/15 (for distance). Amazing!

I've been wearing contacts everyday for prolly 10 yrs or so and have never really had any problems BPing with them....I usually take my glasses too and wear them at night....mostly cause I'm blind as a bat without em!

pre lasik, I used glasses for years, contacts for a while and then contacts only when going aerobic in the cold. Fogging sucks.

I don't wear glasses or contacts, but when I backpack I wear lead frames with no glass in them just for the workout. It's a great exercise. But I make up for it by going lightweight in other areas. Instead of having buns of steel, I have buns of titanium.

LOL @ Buck!

SnowDude had lasik before we did the JMT. He didn't want to carry solution and mess with contacts for 30 days. He loves it!

He doesn't need reading glasses yet, but I catch him every once in awhile holding reading material at arms length.

I wear glasses at work, but don't carry them anywhere (I don't carry a purse). At restaurants I can't see most menu's, so SnowDude picks meals for me. For backpacking I take those tiny cheater glasses from the drug store. I print my maps so I can read them without glasses. PITA to get the glasses out of the pack to read the map.

"I just came from the eye doctor, and it got me thinking. How many of you ultralighters choose specific frames to save weight?"

When I read that, I wondered what a trip to the eye doctor has to do with choosing an ultralight backpack frame............
