I used to be a genius too. I figured this meant I had a few brain cells to spare so took to enjoying beer and other adult beverages in quantities sometimes larger than "in moderation."

Now I am probably just smart.

Twinkle Toes- When you set up your wireless, you should take steps to make sure you will be the only one using it. While wireless can be somewhat secure, it doesn't mean that someone cannot get into your system, but there are steps that you can take to minimize the risk.

-change the SSID from the default one
-change the default administrator password
-don't broadcast the SSID
-enable MAC filtering (usually printed on the wireless adapter)
-use 128 bit WEP encryption

The steps to take to set this all up should be in your user documentation.

These steps should provide some security and help ensure that others are not using your wireless and getting inside your network and computer from your wireless connection.

E-mail me if you have questions. I've set several of them up for a large campus, home and a one building installation.

Good Luck!

Thanks - will do some research on the set up this afternoon. Plan on getting the wireless fully up and running this evening.

Did you figure out the wireless? You know you want to maintain that self-proclaimed genius status.
