this weekend, got a march coming up on the Old Longers Path in PA. Should be pretty cool. Trek through a ghost town and all. Some old railroad scenery. Looking forward to getting on the trail.

What is everyone's favorate trail?

the black Mountain Crest Trail is my personal favorate. Other great trails include Old Rag Ridge Trail, Alum Cave, Boulevard and Fiery Gizzard. The Lion's Head Trail is awesome too.

So many to choose from. I can't say I have a favorite, because they are all different.

But here are a few that stick out in my mind.

Great Range Trail
Rocky Peak Ridge Trail from New Russia
Northville Placid Trail
Duddley Trail and Knife Edge up Katahdin

Oh I forgot the Indian Pass Trail. Hiking among house sized boulders with 3 4000' mountains and a 5000' mountain on one side and an 800+' cliff vertical cliff on the other.

I've wanted to do that trail very much. Perhaps I will do it in October. Get an awesome view of the backside of LeConte. That is one of the steepest climbs in the Smokies I have heard. Is there scrambling at the top?

Yeah, its pretty steep, but not too bad, especially without a backpack. The views are totally worth it. The unfortunate thing though is that it is a pretty widely used trail. Always traffic up there.

No wonder. TWICE you woke up in the middle of the night screaming bloody murder. I was 50ft away from you and you scared the crap out of me. Just think how that poor girl felt who was in the tent with ya?

Favorite trail? Hands down, it's Knife Edge on Katahdin.

yeah, I was having a dream that I had to chase bears away. I still feel bad about waking averyone up. It was the night hike. I was on the look out for bears and I went to sleep on guard.

That was a fun hike though, except for me waking eveyone up and the rain on North Marshall Mtn.

Lz your pic reminds me of one I took in the Smokies of LeConte from Clingmans Dome. Mt. LeConte from Clingmans Dome I actualy drove up the auto road though and then did a small hike on the AT to get that photo (so not much hiking involved but still).
