“I was starting a three-week journey with mountain bike, road bike, kayak and backpacking gear (basically, everything a man needs to live, sans internet porn and beer) on roadie up to BC and back to socal via forgotten highways.

However, as of today, my four year awaited vacation takes a week delay.

I am going to spend the days prior to Labor Day hiking the river Hemmingway wrote about in "The Big Two Hearted River". Too bad I don't fish.
Then I will hike the portion of the NCT a hiker can only hike one day a year, the Mackinac Bridge. =) Looking forward to it and hanging with good friends immensely.”

“WW - the bf has been around (off and on) for the last year. He's not into hiking or backpacking these days, but he is pretty understanding of my hobby. He spends a lot of time in the wilderness on fire assignments, so in his spare time he tends to want to go to the beach or watch the cars circle the track.”

I'm doing a 9-day High Sierra adventure starting at Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon, crankin' over Granite Pass and into the Lakes Basin and down Cartridge Pass to Bench Lake and down the Muro Blanco and back to Cedar Grove Roadend. Remote, off-trail, crazy beautiful... I can't wait! I just got back late last night from a weekend in the High Sierra hiking in from Convict Lake up to a remote lake in a basin above other lakes. We caught some monster fat brookies. They looked like footballs. After we caught them, we hiked them back into the lake. I figured it was a nicer way to release them than punting. I'll be sure to post photos whenever I freaking please. Thank you.”

The other time I have I need to do some hardcore cleaning/tidying of my condo so I can sell it. If I can I am going to fit in either a long run or a bike ride somewhere. I am avoiding the mountains because the crowds and the traffic of folks going to Eastern Washington.”
