A co-worker is quickly making new honeymoon plans, since the house they originally rented on some island down there no longer exists. He's got three weeks to make something else happen.

How the wind blows!
Our park has about 843 sites. About 90% were damaged, from minor stuff to total destructions.

Our park has about 843 sites. About 90% were damaged, from minor stuff to total destruction. There is aluminum everywhere, from skirting, carports, roofs, etc.

I was hit. Pictures were taken to Walmart for processing, but they do not know how soon I will receive them. Then I will have to find a way to uplasd them. Walmart sends them to Orlando, but Orlando was without electricity.

I'll provide more information with the pictures. This crap was not in my plans, but it, too, shall pass. The good news is that there are no injuries or deaths to report here.

Electrical power has only been partially restored in Melbourne. Tornados did their thing in the beach areas.

Glad to hear you're okay NS. Everything else can be replaced in time. If we can help replace gear, post a list of your needs.

good to hear that all are alive and well. Nowslimmer, let us know your needs.
As far as north central florida and jax etc....for it being a tropical storm....it was the worst storm and damage seen here in many a year...some say ever.
I woke up sunday wanting to get online here cause i had said i was chanting unchained melody for the floridians, but had realized it was the other righteous brother song about "when you walk thru the storm........you never walk alone".....but DSL was the first thing to go...
It started with squalls sunday morning and never let up until late monday night. fallen trees EVERYWHERE, city, country, roads.
70% of my electric company's customers out of power since early sunday and expected to stay that way for another week or so. same for folks here in gainesville and ocala. as far as being out of power, backpacking has made me prepared, it is like being in the wilderness for a long trip, i had plenty of warm water in the hot tub for bathing and flushing. and lots of water for drinking...
pretty scary in the dark with huge trees cracking and thudding all around, but...even though i am surrounded by downed trees and debris, only one touched the house, it was dark when it hit and i thought it was coming thru, but when i got the flashlite and looked out i noticed by gods grace and a few feet, it did not crash in on it. I could not drive out until late tuesday night until i had cleared a couple of huge ones across the driveway,in the rain... but the water pump and pressure tank are still standing amongst three big oaks fallen all around it! jai
i went to 47 bridge to check it out because the santa fe was going to crest flood stage there. The river is up but i am way back in the 100 year flood plain. I went out for chinese take out and drove thru hardees for a jumbo coke with ICE!
Thru the whole storm, my dog kept bringing me his ball and dropping it in my lap....i tried to teach him how to play cards, but he just didnt get it.

have some photos on webshots that i took for the insurance guys
i am lucky and glad to hear no bodily damage to anyone else here...

Sure glad that monster didn't come right thru your door and get you!
I would have messed my pants right there! ;-)

Will your insurance pay for the tree removal? You were very very lucky!

Nowslimmer - Did you lose everything? Sounds like it. Please keep us informed. There are a few of us happy to help out.

My friends that live about 20 miles north of Tampa, emailed on Tuesday saying that their power went out Sunday afternoon at 3pm. As of Tuesday it was still off...they told me they'd call/email as soon as it came back on...haven't heard from them yet.

don't worry so much, after isabelle came through here last year there were folks that didn't have power for over 2 weeks. we were two days and some of the first i heard of to get power back then. and it wasn't like no one was working on it. they were working around the clock.

I'm back!

I only lost power for a day or so, i guess. the ice in my box in the freezer was a solid block, so it was off long enough to melt the ice.

Phone has been spotty, but i'm very lucky to have a/c and such.

My office got smacked pretty good and busted out some windows and trashed a couple of offices. There's still several thousand people here with out power.

2/3 of the schools in St Lucie County took serious damage - I saw one high school with the roof peeled back like a sardine can. I have zero damage personally though.

The kids are out of school indefinitely. My office will be closed for a long time too most likely.

Who knows.

If Ivan hits this side of the state, we'll be screwed.

Bitpusher
This ones for you.

My brother and I went on a quest to find ice when our power had been out for a couple of days and we wandered into the local super Walmart. Walmart I'm ok with but super-anything I try to avoid.

Anywhoo we wander back to the camping section and find the place where the flashlights used to be.

Picked clean, nothing there but hair and skin remnants from some unfortunate soul who fought and died for a $4 flashlight.

I then remembered your comment asking if a completely different group of people move to Florida after every hurricane.

I laughed so freaking hard.
