RNC: Sunday Afternoon at Grandma's House

“I'll have ya know, I'm watching this on PBS, trying to get some sort of level look at this and with all due respect, this looks like Halloween night in the basement of the local hospital.

Geez Usssss.

“wan - Sorry, I wasn't very clear. I was tring to address the vibe of the whole thing. Very negitive against Kerry and the Dems, very dull and lack-luster. I'm not really a fireworks kind of guy, but this *event* really didn't *pop* and I just found it really bland.

My wife kept asking why I was watching "this garbage" and I told her that it was something that I had to do. I want to give as much time to this event, as I did the Dems. To turn it off and *poo-poo* it and go off of news reports would stand to mean that I would have to rely on the media's bias. I'm trying to give it a shot as evenly as I can, but the crowd shots and the whole vibe in the room was real *unexcited*. I liked the vibe to be like *a lot of tension at a family funeral*, IMHO....”

“The liberals are gettin' nervous! By the end of the week the whole lot of ya will be thrashing out for apparent reason. Seeings how Bush has taken a PRE-convention bounce nearly across the board...I'd be nervous too.”

It really wasn't as bad as you put it Q,, I watch some of the DNC a few weeks back,,and for some reason it seems that the Dems got more 'BIG 3' air time opening night.

Of course there is going to be politcal jabs taken at the Dems by ever moderate Repub speaker at this RNC. Did you not listen while the Dems had their turn at it? I expect to see negetivity when opposing politicians speak about the other,,don't you.

Do you think that will be the last of 9/11 tributes we'll see this week?

Moderate Repubs need to take back the driver seat of the party or force "w" to bend and the fact that he is to stubborn to bend will more than likely hurt him and the party.”

Yes, I watched the Dem convention. In comparison, teh Dems didn't really refer to Bush by name all that much. It really wasn't until Rev. Al was Bush really addressed by name. In Julies speech alone, there was reference to Kerry, by name at least ten times. At this pace, well, you do the math.

It's sad to seee that teh platform has not changed that much, or evolved from years past: Define your opponent and smear them.

When you have no issues to talk about, slam the other guy. This is all, of course, Poli 101 tactics.

What I saw, is a party divided. Some favor gay rights, like our current VP, the current Presdident spends like an old *tax and send liberal*...hell, if Reagan was alive and able to porcess information, he'd be calling Bush a Card-Carrying Liberal. All this left leaning will split that party after this election, which I'm all for as it is the destiny of that party. We need them to split to give a third party in this country a shot, before the MNC's start taking over the process.”
