“OK, back on track with the Miso soup...

I looked pretty hard at some Miso Soup packets just yesterday, (not at Trader Joe's, so not sure if it's the same brand), but those 2-serving packets required like 16 oz. water, so I wasn't sure how / where I'd use them.

So... what would you do with these? Do you plan on taking these in replacement of the raman packets, and just using part of the contents of a Miso soup packet?

I was VERY interested in these because one of my favorite things on the trail are the packets of Lipton's Hearty Chicken Noodle cup-o-soup. Perfect size for my mug (add 6 oz water, but I add 8-10 & it's still good + I get more fluids), weighs next to nothing, & I don't even have to re-package.

I'd like some more options in the same weight range / convenience, .. Lipton doesn't offer anything except the chicken-nodle, I wish they'd offer some variety!”

Wanderer--
Yes, I was thinking of using the Miso soup to replace the soup powder that come with either the ramen or instant rice vermicelli.... (i.e. put the ramen or rice vermicelli into the miso soup.) There appears to be no (or at least a lot less) MSG in the miso and it tastes less "chemical"-y to me....

I hike with my hubby, so 2 servings in a pack isn't bad for us. The Trader Joe's brand also requires 16 oz of water, but I would think that you might be able to re-package it if needed?

The best sauce for meats, or poultry is Maggi's seasoning. It's $2.99 for a small bottle and it's a concentrate, but costs not much more for a big bottle if you get it from an Asian store, maybe because it's a product of China by the Nestle Corp.

lipstick - We use Magi sauce also!! I rub a little bit over a slab of ribs along with some seasonings. It rocks!

Phil, I use Dai Day Garlic Sauce for ribs. It's a thin liquid, so I just rub a little on it, cover the pan I put it in tightly and cook in the oven at 350 degrees for 2 hours and they come out so tender. Then I take the rest of the Garlic Sauce and pour it over them. It really isn't garlicky. I had my mom ship the sauce to me from NY. I can't believe I can't find it in WA with all the Asian stores here. Once you try this sauce, you will be hooked. I still like the red barbeque sauces, but this stuff is addictive.

sarbar1, I told this story before, but I used to go to this great steakhouse in NJ and they had this great sauce they put on the meat and you could buy an extra small bowl to put on your meat and fries. They must have made a bundle on selling that cheap sauce on the side for about 50 cents 16 years ago.

Then I get a job and mention the place and sauce to this gal there and she says I know what sauce they use, it's Maggi's Seasoning.

I'll bake chicken breasts, then dip the meat in the sauce. It's addictive. Then when you mix the stuff w/the natural juice from a steak and it leaks onto your fries, you would think you died and went to heaven and I'm not even a meat eater.

We have people from all over the states that order it-for me it is even funnier because we can get it locally at Safeway ;-)

Hey I just found precooked Tuna Steaks in my Grocery store. I got the ginger and soy flavored one, it comes in a pouch. It says you just heat it and eat it. I got to beleive that it is better Tuna than your normal pouch.

I'll give a taste report after this weekends trip. I hope it isn't nasty tasting.

Sarbar1, I bought the Maggi's really cheaply from an Asian store. It may have been the Ujuwaima store in the Interntional district. It's a huge bottle, and maybe it was $7. I have to check next time I go to that store.

Now the Dai Day Garlic sauce is what I had to ship from NY. I know it must be sold in WA somewhere with all the Asian people and stores here.

Has anyone had "Nescafe Frothe"?
It's like an instant cappacino drink--just add hot water and it foams up... very yummy... plus, after the can is used up, it makes a nice small container for little items (don't know if it's leak-proof, though...)

I picked up a packet of the imitation crab meat in the foil pouch to try in an alfrado dish. I wasn't even going to buy it because the canned seafood is pretty nasty most of the time but it was Starkis so I figured I'd try it. It was only like $1.87.

Anyone try it yet?

Nigal, my husband will buy imitation crab when he's desperate, otherwise when it's open season, he takes out the zodiac and goes crabbing down the street from us for dungeness crabs.

The crab quality probably depends on the brand. I don't know what he gets, but he eats it with cocktail sauce.

It's such a curious thing about men being so attracted to that part of the body where in some areas of Africa and probably South America tribal women are topless and I don't think the bushmen care. Maybe that's it. They're bushmen, LMAO!!!!

This one NG show was funny about young tribesmen coming of age. They have to bungee jump from this high tower of reeds and weeds and whatever else is in it, but the person who is in charge of the bungee cord estimates how much to cut it, so in many cases, the kid ends up hitting his head on the ground. It's kind of funny.

Would it hurt to cut it just a little shorter, just incase? I guess if you live after having your head bashed, you're in, lol.

Comparing size & shape. You ladies just can't win. Maybe that's it. They're bushmen, LMAO!!!!”

I don't know if I can compare breasts without support to testicles without support, but it's not comfortable to not have ones breasts supported. It's more of a support issue. Also, nipples are sensitive, so that's another reason to cover them.

Sometimes I see women with bras on that still have a lot of bouncing breast action and I wonder if they are comfortable or don't know how to work the straps to lift those suckers higher.

Believe it or not I think I prefer the imitation crab meat to the real thing for everything but actually cracking the legs and eating crab meat. It's a lot cheaper, tastes just as good, is lower in the bad stuff like cholesterol and mercury. Crabs in reality are nothing more than huge sea cockroaches.

Nigal, the next time my husband is biting into one of his fresh caught crabs, I'll tell him that you think they are sea cockroaches. I guess that's because they will eat anything.

Hubby will leave the trap overnight and come up with 10 crab or so. Some are keepers, and some he gives to friends or eats them between two days. All I know is that I have to open up a kitchen garbage bag and cover my table with it, before he goes to it.

I went to an outlet mall last Friday and found some cool soups. The package says The Superior Bean & Spice co. but I couldn’t find anything on the web about them. I got a little six pack of 4oz. Bisque that has cheddar cheese and broccoli bisque, crab bisque and lobster bisque. I figured I would dehydrate some crab or shrimp or chicken to add to it.

I've eatten the imitation crab which I prefer to the real crab. The Starkist in the pouch was a bit bland but it was still good in the alfrado noodles. Not to meantion it was half the price of the real crab. Krogers has a 1 pound pack of the imitation crab that is killer. I'd just do a whole pound at a time in the dehydrater.
