I'm beat. Anybody got tips for fighting off exhaustion when you've got a crazy schedule and mild insomnia?

I'm so tired

I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink
I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink
I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink
No, no, no

I'm so tired, I don't know what to do
I'm so tired, my mind is set on you
I wonder should I call you but I know what you would do

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
You know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind

I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset
Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette
And curse Sir Walter Raleigh
He was such a stupid git

You'd say I'm putting you on
But it's no joke it's doing me harm
You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain
You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane
You know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind

There a some meds. like Clonazepam, which I take, that help you settle in and get some sleep. 'Course there are other meds. Not a long term solution, but might help in the short run. Talk to your dr.

A good snogging always puts me right to sleep. LOL!

Avoid caffine! It's a quick fix but it'll just wear you down physiclly and make it harder to shut down. Sometimes a Benedril helps me or valarian root. Eat some turkey meat before bed?

Ha! ENS, I was thinking the same thing when I read the title:)

When I'm that tired, I usually just go run a few miles...get some adrenaline going.

Well, capn suggested it so he should be the one to follow through.

Have you had a lot of stress or something? I get cracky and have a hard time sleeping the week before I go on a trip.

I used to get insomnia a lot
I now have the Sleep Number bed and it helps a lot.

Some tips though:
Avoid caffeine. It will mess you up for falling asleep later.
Take a nice hot bath before going to bed (unless of course you are having warm weather, then maybe a cool one will be nice for settling into the covers.)
Chamomile tea is good, but don't drink it too close to bedtime or you'll wake up to pee!
I also like melatonin.

But most importantly, try to quiet your mind and your breathing. Look into meditation practices for help on that. Most of my insomnia is due my brain being all a buzz of thoughts and worries. This why reading before bed is good.

Good luck!

If you have occasional insomnia, Increasing Calcium/Magnesium intake through pills is suggested. It does help me. They make Calcium/Magnesium dietary supplements in 2:1 ratios, although this is somewhat arbitrary.

Lack of magnesium is directly linked to insomnia. Calcium deficiency is linked to hypertension and sleep disturbances.

You also need to take both because they can conflict with each other. An increase in one hinders the uptake of the other.

Now, to stay awake - large coffee with a double espresso. repeat as needed.

I whole-heartidly agree with the exercising advice. Do something aerobic (run, ride a bike, rollerblade, etc.). After a few short weeks of regulary exercising and pushing yourself, you will feel more energized during the day, and will also sleep better at night.

Well i have a few herbal remedies
When ever u do have some free time mellow out with ur bong!!!

It will make u really relaxe and feel refreshed the next day!!

If u want to keep up with everythingh Cocaine one of my perfectionist friends in high school would do it and stay up all night and study!!
But that one is not highly recomended and isnt herbal!!!
