Holy cow - it's like bowling.

I didn't realize they had a map already - now I know what I'm doing next week.

The dude at the insurance company that recommended a separate deductible for each even rather than an annual one is probably gonna get an "atta boy" after this season.

(I know it doesn't work that way - but there are some folks who are gonna end up paying two deductibles after frances - and these are not regular deductibles - these are 2% of the value of your home (pre-storm). If Ivan hits then that will be crazy.

That process would make it almost like not even having insurance for some folks.

It's a sinister plot to get Roam to move to the NE, ENS and I cooked it up and built a weather machine, we need more hikers who are as enthusiastic as Roam Around around here.

It's a shame when the "everything comes in threes" philosophy applies to hurricanes.

You guys should rate the storms on a 10 point scale or something.

You gotta have a sense of humor about this stuff.

Do they run "Come to Michigan" ads in Florida during hurricane season the same way they run "Come to Florida" ads here when it's ten below zero?

Just curious.

lol, they should be! actually - they probably realize they don't have to.

THere was one woman interviewed on CNN last night saying she now realizes how stupid it was to move to Florida and buy a mobile home. Said she was going back to Massachusettes.

its the first time in a couple of years that we've had big storms come onshore in FL and the first time in about 30 years that the treasure coast area has been hit.

Jeb said we were having "storm amnesia" prior to Charley, but that he thinks we're over that now.

The 5:00 update shifted the 5 day track a little south, its now pointed at the Gulf, but the cone still covers all of S. Florida.

Cape Verde Hurricane
Cape Verde-type hurricanes are those Atlantic basin tropical cyclones that develop into tropical storms fairly close (<1000 km [600 mi] or so) of the Cape Verde Islands and then become hurricanes before reaching the Caribbean. (That would be my definition, there may be others.) Typically, this may occur in August and September, but in rare years (like 1995) there may be some in late July and/or early October. The numbers range from none up to around five per year - with an average of around 2.

thats from a google search - I guess this is an above average year, huh.

It's Touching Florida
NOAA 11PM has it touching Florida in their 5 day. At this point they've got it heading into Sarasota. Yeah, yeah - it can change over the next few days - but nobody around here is taking their shutters down.

We are heading to GA to stay at a cabin near the AT if it heads this way. Sticking around through a hell storm and then no power is no fun.

Poor Punta Gorda and Ft. Meyers.
