Haha, Ivygal! That's a good question to be asked around a fire I think. I bet we all have some great stories.

It's just that there's so many bars to choose from, and I don't want to buy them all to try them. I can't afford that.

I used to really like Clif bars, and I guess I still do, but I get Balance bars because they're lighter and I can buy them by the box at Costco. I tell ya though, I gotta be pretty hungry to eat one. They're all full of that soy protein, and I don't really like the taste. I may have to go back to Clif bars.

For eating? How about the old standard - "Tigers Milk" bars.

For drinking? Pero's in Huntington Beach, California (1/4 block from the beach).

Harvest bars are quite good, but I have also been known to eat some Luna bars. They are similar to Harvest bars, but just not as substantial - and they're girl bars. :p

My second favorite are Clif bars. I too like the ice series.

Power bars are Blech! I've also never eaten a "protein" bar that isn't Blech.

okay, I have to go back and rethink that this is not a drinking question, hmmmmmm. I don't have one. I bring pretzels as snacks.

Favorite bar, I like the Indian Casinos, because they make good strawberry daqueries.

Mojo bars. They used to have some awesome spicy flavors like Thai peanut and bbq, but haven't been able to find them lately. The mountain mix and mixed nut are my favs I guess. They have a more "crunchy, salty, snack" type texture and flavor than a gooey, sweet energy bar type deal.

Second favorite are Harvest bars. Cherry crunch is excellant.

i'm not a fan of bars, yet i'll still eat them because they're easy to pack in. i guess i'd have to go with cliff bars.

Energy - Clif bars. Good selection of flavors. Chewy, but not impossible to eat.

Drink - Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery. They brew all their own beer, and it's all excellent.

I prefer the Snickers Marathon bar, especially the chocolate peanut. IMHO it beats all others hand down...unlike most others you do not need a single drop of water to get it to go down.

As far as the other bars I like the Southgate House, best music venue in NKY and the Greater Cincinnati metro area.

Nestle Crunch Bar!!

Powerbars work great but I never really like chewing them. Gu is way better.

Cliff Bars, Tigermilk, ect. just don't work for me.

I'm a big Clif bar fan. I pretty much like all of their flavors, but if I had to choose one, I'd pick "Chocolate Almond Crunch".

Powerbars are okay, but their texture and look reminds me of dog poo that got ran over by a train.

Gold bars are best, followed by silver...

Haven't found a power bar yet that I liked much. Usually do some variety of homemade trail mix, but I'll try the Moose Goo.

My fav drinking bar no longer lives: Nashville's in Timonium.

I use to eat Cliff bars, liked the Luna as well, but tey are too heavy to take on the trail, IMHO. I use to carry about five or six of the cliff ut that was like almost another pound in food.

Give me some Guda, or Colby Jack cheese, homemade jerky and some gorp and I'm in heaven....!

I have tried these with several variations, using molasses and "Karo" syrup instead of the honey and using granola and raisin bran for the cereal.

For anyone going to Denali, they have a little "employee bar" called "The Spike".... if you go there, tell them you're from "the village".... LOL :-)

I like the Golean bars, but they can be a bit "chewy" (hard on the jaws, especially if the bars are very cold)

Found a cheap granola bar at a local grocery store... don't remember the brand name, but they are very soft and chewy, but not overly sweet. I like the raisin & oatmeal flavor.. :-)

I don't like them too much, but there a couple:

carrot cake cliff bar
lemon poppy seed cliff bar
tiger bar

I saved the rappers from a couple other bars, but I can't remember their name right now, and can't find the rapper either :) I know one of them is organic, and purchased at REI. Had see alges in it and all... It was pretty good though. (I like that kinda stuff)
