'05 AT Thru Hike

I'm back home in Wisconsin and loving it. I appreciate all the kind comments and you don't have to pretend I'm a thru hiker, because I'm not. It's really much cooler to think I may have completed the longest section hike in AT history. The idea of going back just to do Katahdin frankly bores me. I may do it all again in '07. '06 may be about doing one or two thru hikes of the Superior trail and possibly Isle Royale. I've got to do a lot because I dropped from 180 to 149 and a 34" waist to a 29". Plus there's a marathon to run and that ski race. I may have failed in leg one of the "Old Fart Trifecta", but there's still 2 more to go.

I can't tell you all how much your support has humbled me. Amazing since I haven't met most of you. Actually it's probably more amazing to get support from those I have met (ha!) Thanks again for everything.

“All but 5 or so miles. Food poisoning. Yes.”

“If you hiked all but 5 miles of the AT, and couldnt finish because you got sick and then they closed Baxter State Park, then you thru hiked, I dont care what anyone says.

I agree with rosey, why dont you do the PCT this time?”
