I have an old jeep wrangler with mega miles on it, skid plates, winches, farm jacks, come-alongs, cables, chain saw, lock picks, tool boxes, generator-welder, pulleys & a roof-rack for bridging materials that has spent a LOT of time in the woods. Use a hyundai for daily travel & my wife loves her Xterra.

Best vehicle ever owned - Any Toyota, car, truck or whatever. Never been able to kill one.
Most fun - My '69 Dodge Charger that I got shortly after leaving Vietnam and the service. Fortunately I killed it before it killed me. Lots of fun though.

I've got almost 100,000 miles on my Ford F-150 and it hasn't left me stranded.

Owned a piece of junk Chevy Vega in the 70s. It stranded me lots of places like the hospital after I drove my wife to deliver our first born. Got rid of the car after that!

I drove a Vega too. It was my mom's. It ran okay, until it stopped, then I got my own car.

I'm really a toyota girl...had my camry through everything and have never had to do any major repairs...just kept the oil changed, new tires and brakes. Its got almost 200,000 on it and still running strong.

Had a chevy celebrity station wagon from the time I was 16-21. It was the family car before that and i sold it when it had 220,000 miles on it. I used to see it driving around everywhere, but its prolly dead by now, seven years later. good wagon.

Kind of funny, maybe 5 years ago a friend was driving an early 80's Ford pickup. Several of us had torn off the rusting bed and built a nice wood bed on the back, and it was an unusual color of green (what was left of the original body). Couldn't miss it.

My wife and I are driving along a back road and for some reason I mentioned the friend, and his pickup. We have a laugh about it always breaking down. Everywhere. Often. Not even 15 seconds later we come around a bend and there is the truck on the side of the road, dead and abandoned.

He always swore by Fords and "hated" Chevy but amazingly got rid of that truck soon after... to drive a beat-up Chevy Nova... which later caught fire when leaking fuel (which he knew about!) dripped onto the open headers...

American Muscle

A got 93 Ranger now. It's OK.
I've had two chevys before and wasn't to crazy about them.
My favorite and most dependable truck I've owned was a Toyota.
The next thing I get will either be a Dodge or another Toyota.

Definately Chevy
but I had a Pontiac Ventura that just would NOT die! It got to the point where I had to open the door with a screw driver...holes in the floor...suspension shot(got used to leaning to the right)...couldn't jack it up by the rusted fender anymore and had to get a hydralic jack...etc...but the engine wouldn't die. Even at 30 below one winter, it was the only car in the neighborhood that would start and I found myself going around giving the other cars a jumpstart. I hated to get rid of that car but it just got so damn ugly!

In my experience with trucks and offroading and actually working them everyday Toyota holds up better and needs less attention than the others. Nissan runs a close second...ford and chevy just have too much #&%!$ go wrong with them...dodge is ok so long as it a Cummins

I got 180,000 on my escort prior to it's demise by wreck. Have fun with the 80,000+ you have left.

Ford put food on my families table and sent me to college. I'm loyal and the cars have never disappointed. I love my Explorer.

That's about where I am with the Subaru. It keeps loosing coolant, but no one can find the leak. I just hope the car lasts long enough for me to get it paid off.

sounds like a head gasket problem LZ. that would be bad. Did you check for water comeing out of your exhaust pipe?
Roam Around

I had a Ford Taurus once - it blew up on me, but I have to take the blame for not keeping the oil changed in it like I should have.
Roam Around
3:53:59 PM
9/13/04

That's what I'm thinking it is. I haven't seen any water in the tail pipe, but I think at this point the exhaust is pushing most of the coolant out the over flow. What sucks with my car is that the entire engine, not just the top half, has to be pulled out to change the gasket.

Subarus are supposed to go like 300k
earthNsky

The Mercury Capri I had when it went, it blew a valve in one cylinder, and the head gasket between two others, so it only had one good cylinder left.

The Nissan pickup I had blew two head gaskets within 6 months of each other.

I've been doing a lot of reading lately. All the newer models seem to have head gasket problems. Although I think a lot of cars with aluminum heads have the same problem, because the steel on the bottom half thermally expanse and contracts at different rates than the aluminum.

First car was a 79 Grand Prix. 2 tone green, 301 V-8. That car was sweet!

Next came a 91 Chevy Berretta. The car did not survive a 70 mph rear end collision, but thank god, I did.

I have now inherited my wife's 96 Hunydai Accent which I drive back and forth to the train station. Little car has been beat to hell and back and just keeps running.

The 00 Jeep Wrangler is my trail vehicle.

The wife just got a 01 Volvo S80.

What was the question again?
