Survivor Tonight

“I can't believe that no one has mentioned that the new Survivor starts tonight.

They keep saying you can't miss the 1st 10 mintues of the show.
Looks like it should be another great show.”

“i know someone who was on Vanuatu (sp??) at the same time they were filming that! she and her husband, who are anthropology students, went there with no plans except to study the "natives" (lol). they had nowhere to live or anything...the people built them a shelter and they ate all their meals with them and everything. they saw the Survivor crew too!”

“Woo-hoo! We're there! Must see TV!!!!”

“A local guy from around here is on the show. His name is John Palyok. His family was interviewed in today's paper in which they mention he backpacked across Europe last year. I think he lives in LA now.”

“It’s a banner year for Buckeyes on reality shows. Drew from Big Brother 5 lives in a town 15 miles away and the one guy on Survivor lives about 25 miles away.”

Maybe that's why they changed my softball games to Wednesday's :-D”

“I saw that it was going to be like that but on Survivor anything can happen”

Yes! They didn’t plan on it but when they reach the island they have to go through a tribal ritual with the locals and they were split up for it by sexes. So they just left it that way.”

“I've also heard there's the possibiity that more than one person could be voted off during tribal council. Should be an interesting season!”

My first expression of him...hmm, it's hard to explain:
He acts all tuff, but I think he's hidding his fear behind his loud and fake drill sergeant yells.

I could be wrong...so we'll see I guess.”

“Yeah, as Nigal mentioned, I can't see the drill sarge hanging around very long though I pray he does. I'm really looking forward to him really shaking things up a bit. In one of the video clip promos for the show he was referring essentially to some of the men in the tribe as a bunch of Candies.”

“I also heard Jeff Pobst saying that he has never been able to pick the winner at the beginning but he said this time there was no way in hell he would have picked one of the finalists. Look for a dark horse!”

“According to the article I read, the final two episodes haven't been taped yet. They will be done live in December. At this point no one knows who the winner will be.”

“He was talking about who wer ein the final 2 I think.”

“that is interesting. I can see the final episode being done live but not the final two. At that point you would still have 3 people left if they follow the same pattern as in the past.”

Apparently they've relaxed their requirements since I went through basic training.”

They found their camps.

They went to tribal council, where the women whipped the men.

They voted Brook off the island.”

“I love the "job descriptions" they give everyone. Like one girl is a youth mentor - does that mean she is a camp counselor? One of the guys is a "document manager". I'm guessing that means he works at Kinko's.”

“...and what the heck is a 'Cafe Barista'? I forget which woman had that as her occupation. Maybe she works at Starbucks.”

“HAHA! My wife and I are in a Survivor pool. Guess who she got? BROOKE!! Haha! I have that good lookin’ children’s mentor Julie. As of right now I believe I hate them all. One half is a bunch of lazy asses and the other half are a bunch of take charge "I'm da man!" types.”

I think most of the guys didn't like Brooke's attitude right after they got back to camp.

Plus who names their son Brooke??”

“I think the guys are overdoing the individual strategy at this point. They need to keep their team very strong to win those immunities for the tribe.”

“Too bad that dude was voted off for basically no reason. Gotta hand it to Chris (?) who avoided getting the axe, despite looking incredibly pathetic during the challenge. It was pretty dang funny, though!

Clearly, a few of the women were selected for the show for, um, shall we say, two specific qualities? One or two of the women will not go far (don't recall the names), just from their grouchy expressions.

My wife had the same comment about Brooke's name. Was genuinely puzzled. Me, too. I think of Brooke Shields, you know?

I loved the comment about the bathing beauties being "like cattle". I need to remember that one.”

“Fire by friction is kinda hard to do even if you have all the right materials before hand.

I have a bow drill and a hand drill and I teach those methods to scouts. Usually only the older guys have the strength and stamina to make it happen.

Sooooo.....I'll bring both kits to Ocala next year iffin y'all want to learn how to do it. Waddayathink?”

they did say though that they practiced, and how all of a sutton they couldn't do it. I guess it must be the humitity.”

I didn't notice but are any of the people wearing glasses. I have made a fire with a magnifying glass when I was a kid so why wouldn't glasses work.”

“Gem it's most likely the wood they used. Friction methods work best when the wood is bone dry and they had a torrential rain the night before. Most non-outdoorsy types aren't very good a finding decent dry wood in any condition much less after a rain.”

“About the fire - I remember people in previous episodes trying with glasses without success. I can't imagine why not.

They did good enough editing to throw me off Brook completely. (re: it being a girl's name - wasn't there a baseball player named Brooks Robinson? I know, not the same). Both tribes have their share of good looking do nothings.”

Thank heavens for the end of the "sheep farmer". She was getting on my nerves big time! But the "pre-law student" with the big eyes is almost as bad.

“I was kind of thinking that it was slanted towards the ladies...and I was surprised the guys won the puzzle challenge.

The "sheep farmer" should have stuck to an alliance this early in the game...her strategy of playing both sides didn't pay off. Hopefully, it'll get interesting later on...”
