I like North Carolina...
but our high country is getting slowly bulldozed by urban sprawl. Soon the wilderness will all be gone and the little patches left will be like urban parks.

At least it will take some time for urban sprawl to destroy Colorado's beauty.

I lived in Colorado from 1979 to 1984 and did make a return visit until 2001

the numbers of large new houses just west of Golden in the foothills was unbelievable and the exit and road into Evergreen was unrecognizable. Oh well.

Yep, 'tain't the same.
Right. Had a similar experience when I returned to Minnesota after 25 years. This changing applies almost everywhere.

The world today is not the one in which I experienced my early years. Today it sucks, from more people, more traffic lights, more contamination, more athletic teams, to more crime. But some things have improved like drugs, medical facilities and medical care. If not for these improvements I would be ashes. Hmmm, I could be resting in peace with no more mountains to climb.

So, how excited did you get when you saw the state line and later when you first glimpsed the mtns? I'd have been pumped.

he he, nice bison, er, bison.

When we drove out here, I'd been telling my daughter how cool the mountains would look and when we finally got within 'range' of being able to see them I pointed out the windshield and said "There, Sarah - look at that!"

She looked up and said, 'yeah, I see it'.

THen she looked again and said "WOW! I thought those were clouds!!!"

Well, OK I'm not moving TO Colorado, but rather within Colorado. Just an FYI to my fellow CO TTers, I'm relocating to Ft. Collins starting next month.

I've wanted to move to Colorado since 1985 when I visited the first time. In 1986 I applied to the University of Colorado at Boulder. They accepted my application but I couldn't afford their tuition. Over 20 years later I still dream of moving to Colorado.

You are making that dream happen for you MsDoolittle. Good luck!
