I think what we will do is this: On Friday night, we park our car at the end of the trail on the other side of Tom Jones Mountain. It's a fairly short, but steep hike up to the shelter. We can do this in reasonable time and bank on the fact that we can secure the shelter. We stay up there on Friday night. Saturday morning, we will have an idea of the time frame the Saturday folks are working around and day hike out towards the direction you folks are coming in. It's a nice walk, so we can enjoy the journey and meet up with you people somewhere amidst the trail. When you are ready, face the railroad tracks and walk to your right about 100 yards, give or take. Cross the tracks and look for the little bridge that crosses the Ramapo River. Then, the trail will pick up off the road up ahead. Follow the red trail pretty much all the way up. There are a few little split offs, so someone should have a trail map to keep you on course.
