Water, Ice for Ice chests, and other tidbits..
Water...why spend money for bottled water when a plastic blue can from Wal-Marts camping section costs $5.98? Fill it before the storm hits...and it's Re-useable...Duh!

If you HAVE to buy bottled by the case, FREEZE IT! The bottles can be used in ice chests to keep food cold, and when they melt, they will still be drinkable, with no waterlogged foodstuffs in the chest...

Your car is a twelve volt battery charger...buy the largest inverter you can afford, and hook it to the battery for 110 Volt power...

http://www.realgoods.com/renew/

the link is an excellent source for 12Volt (Off the grid) type living...

The water bottles thing is a good idea. I will have to remember that next time Houston gets slamed

Well, I wouldn't say no odor. You can still smell them, it's just not as bad.

Refill empty bottles to freeze. New full bottles will rupture from ice expansion.

cool site, supertroll...I researched living off the grid a while back.

The whole "homesteading" thing will be very cool when I buy my eleventy-million acres in Montana and live happily ever after.
