“I was watching the weather channel earlier and they described the atmospheric conditions that lead to Ivan. It would appear that Ivan will reduce the massive size of the offshore High pressure system and that would put GA, NC and SC in line for a direct hit.

Of course they concluded by saying the prediction business is not an exact science.”

thats 26 days (well including weekends) of school closure because of Hurricane Frances! Went a week without power, so no a/c which allowed mold to grow. Now they're trying to remove the mold so people don't get sick.

“They just announced on the local news that noaa was adjusting the track a little further west soon. I haven't seen the revised map yet but the multiple computer tracks at wunderground show the shift.”

“The local authorities are doing an excellent job of getting everyone here riled up and in full foaming at the mouth panic mode. The consensus of 4 local news stations is "This will be much worse than Frances was." Frances flat out sucked, I'll admit. I know I actually enjoyed having the power out and improvising, as well as several romantic dinners by candlelight. We've since trimmed out more branches, thinning the overall canopy to allow more air flow, so hopefully that will help as well. The big bonus for us though, as compared to thousands of others, is that we still had water and sewer. Most didn't. That reminds me, I need to pick up more lamp oil, lol.”

“OUC is making the decision tomorrow if we are on hurricane hours, meaning I will be there the whole weekend and come back Monday to see what happened to my home.”
