ENS, report to the less dating more hiking thread and splain what you are doing by going on a date when there is hiking to be had.”

“Hey ENS, or anybody else who sees this before tomorrow morning. I'm gonna leave very early in the morning, and hope to get to the th by 7. Leave without me if y'all are ready. Tell Sacco I'm bringing in the yaktrax and hopefully, I'll catch up before he actually needs them.”

“Ok, I just got off the phone with my dad, and there is about 4 inches of snow in the foothills around Monticello. That said, keep you hands, feet, and arms inside the car at all time and enjoy the ride. It's gonna be a wild one...

“The Wittenberg/Cornell/Slide/Giant Ledge loop:
Including Giant Ledge, this is about a 17 mile loop from the Woodland Valley CG, so no car shuttling needed. Fabulous views and some fun rock scrambling (more so than the Devil's Path).

I'm kickin' around the idea of duplicating this hike in July. Anyone interested?”

“it's a good'un! What weekend do you have in mind?”

“Lookin' at the same weekend as the ADK Gain Bang trip or the last weekend in July. Those are the only weekends I have free.”

“For a variation you should hike it counter clockwise.”

“Doesn't matter what direction to me LT, July will prolly be the last Bp'ing trip before the baby is born, so I want to make it a good one. The campsite at Giant Ledge is supposed to be one of the best on the east coast. Hard to beat North Fork though.”

“why don't you go all out and go to the Gain Bang?”

“I thought the group limit was full, no?”

“Backslacker, there is actually a better campsite than Giant ledge in my opinion, if the weather is right. Just before you go up Slide from the col there is a small grassy ledge for 2-3 tents or so looking back over Whittenberg and cornell. The water source is the pipe spring on the side of Slide at about 3700', one of the best springs in the Catskills.”

“Late Sept/early OCT., I have a car camp trip in Aug, so July will be my last Bp trip. Day hikes excluded of course.”

“Backslacker, we have room on that trip. Right now it is just Zac, PhantomSoul and myself and potentially Abster and Fridge. Phantom and I were talking about car pooling. I took off Thursday and he has to work. I want to get up there in time to rent a bear canister.
